  1. I'm glad you got is running again! This is such a great site. Dont hesitate to shoot me an email or call if you need any more info or any help.
  2. Yes, just updated that thread as well
  3. Well I got it out! It took some drilling and another punch to force it out, but I didn't need to use heat! Thanks for your help guys! -Phil
  4. I found when putting the other axel on that it was quiet obvious that it was 180 degrees off so i put it the right way, so i shouldn't have a problem that way.
  5. ah my mistake i was using a 7/32 punch, rust is not the problem, if it fails to try pounding it out in the opposite direction i will try a torch. I've allready gotten the axel out of the knuckle..no loose bearings thank god haha
  6. Subaru should have designed it to be held on by bolts in the first place... I'm using a 7/16 punch, I am aware of the taper, both sides have a bevel which is confusing, a also see that it used to be paint blue, so It was probobly aftermarket. I wont be able work on it for another week, so I'll post my results then, thanks for all the advice guys.
  7. I had to DRILL the sh** out of the other pin to get it out...it was no fun either...that was after pounding on it too... I dont think I'm doing anything wrong, and Ive read threads about how simple this is...and if it werent for the pin it wouldn't be bad..but i HAVE to get that pin out of there ASAP..and Ive tried soaking it with some PB blaster..
  8. It appear I am driving it in the correct direction, it is possible I am wrong though...But I'm almost certain it is the correct direction, worth a try though
  9. Hey there, I have been attempting to remove an axel on my 84 GL wagon 4X4 with an ea81 engine, and the darn spring or tension pin is stuck, i have used a punch and a hammer and sledge hammer and ended up breaking the punch! I managed to drive it about 1/4 of the way out and it will not budge, ive even tried drilling, ive spent hours trying to get this stupid pin out. If anyone knows something i dont about this, please let me know i could use the help. I already did the other side and had some difficulty but nothing like this. ANY HELP is GREATLY appreciated. THANKS! -Phil
  10. Yup you pay admission and go hunting, as far as the jack goes, we have a machine that lifts the cars up and u stack tires under it, and then go to work. as far as interchangeability goes there are other far more knowledgeable about that then I and i;m sure they will chime in.
  11. allright thats what i wanted to hear thanks!
  12. Agreed for snow the narrower tire is better, however if your dealing with ice, like solid ice... it's a different story. haha
  13. I tried a search so please redirect me to a link if this has already been posted but how do i find out what my gear ratio is in my differential? Is there a code on the door or in the vin i can look up or is it stamped on the differential housing?? thanks
  14. Has anyone noticed a difference in handling by upgrading the sway bar? Or how about the turbo struts and springs along with the sway bar? Is it worth yanking if i find one at the yard?
  15. Thanks for all the advice guys! I'll check it out when I get home from the college this weekend! Great write up subarujunkie, I will probably revert it back to factory specs cause I'm worried about NJ emissions tests and fuel milage more than power haha, assuming the mod was done..
  16. Hmm, well just saw this thread, The previous owner said he installed a GM alternator, says it 160 amps... IT is huge, Heres a picture, cause I love pics, after reading this im afraid something will burn out and catch on fire, hmmm
  17. hmmm, well the previous owner said that he did the mod to get the second barrel to open early, I looked at the guide for it, and then the engine, and couldn't see any mod like that done, however i could be wrong because the thing is so dirty... I guess what i have to do is have some one step on the gas while I look inside the carb...haha
  18. wow you get you-pull-it wheels for just about free! They're like 25 dollars at the yard I go to haha. Guess It all depends on the area..
  19. Ah sorry EA81, Yeah...I have to turn the fan on with a switch inside the car...it has a bigger radiator and single fan in it, courtesy of the previous owner, so I guess I shouldn't bother getting that unless I want to get my fan to turn on automatically. I'm more worried with emissions... there are several vacuum lines missing from the air filter housing I'll have to see where they go to on the junked EA81.
  20. All-right well the previous owner took something out and I cant seem to find what it is in the manuals, I'm gonna grab it the next time I go to the junkyard, I'm assuming it has to do with emissions. What attached to the bowl shaped metal piece to the right in this picture and what is its function? Thanks.
  21. I'm about as new as you to this site, but I'd say you got a half decent deal, the tires look so-so, at least it appears the tread isn't very deep, the muffler looks great, overall I think you got them for a fair price, I wouldn't rave about it, but its decent.
  22. Indeed, as i said one of the dumbest things ive ever done, ha, that was a few years ago...
  23. well this isnt exactly MINE or an older subaru but it was my parents and i WAS driving it hehehe. These pictures are from the video i have.. And yes all four wheels are off the ground in the second picture..subarus can fly! The only damage caused was the plastic undershield was ripped off and i believe a tie rod end needed to be replaced like a year later because it was bent, haha. One of the dumbest things ive done, its a 2000, was mint, front bumpers a little scratched now...lol
  24. I'm not sure im looking into anything that in depth yet, however if i do find a turbo edition car i will definitely be grabbing those!
