  1. I still have plands to do a 6-lug conversion, 15x7s w/ a zero offset, and 225/50/15 tires. But.... I'd kinda like to get thids thing on the road... and a cheap set of 13" tires for my stockers would help facilitate that at a low cost. Not only are the tires on them toast, they are TINY and SKINNY. What is an appropriate tire size for the stock 13s on a 78 Brat that would fill out the wheelwells nice and wide, with an appropriate height (not lifted looking) Suggestions?? Pics wouls be REALLY helpful
  2. I have a progress thread on both clubwrx, as well as my forum.... http://www.slcsubaru.com. id post a link, but I'm on my phone. Its hot rod black.... which is a flat/matte black...... and silver brat decals/striping are on their way here ill definitely post up once I get them on Just gotta figure out this electrical issue first.
  3. ^^^ Not yet... but all the parts are bought.... except the wheels. Car is still sitting on 13 stock steelies...... finished the bodywork, got her painted.... currently working out electrical issues.
  4. WOW!!!! USMB is back up!!!! I got a tip that the fusable link may be causing my problems. After locating it... it looks TERRIBLE (see picture). So can I just replace it with a wire. If so, what gauge? Or.... should I just put a new fuse in there? If so what size? Any suggestions?
  5. So.... she's painted, got all the trim and parts back together.... looking GREAT. Started her up this afternoon..... engine running great.... Headlights worked.... turn signals came on but didn't blink... dome light worked.... even the windshield wipers worked. Couple minor issues..... but all in all..... pretty good. Went out to test the fuses after dinner...... and poof. Now NOTHING works.... no lights.... no wipers..... and the car will turn over all day long but won't fire and start. Like my entire electrical system took a crap. It has to all be related..... something?? suggestions??? HELP!!!
  6. I pulled that RF fender off a LONG time ago..... it was absolutely thrashed.... smacked in all over the marker light.. unusable... trashed it months ago man.. sorry Up to nearly 50 carws for this meet... still rising
  7. It's been undergoing a restoration for over a year. Technically, it runs as well, I've only driven it a total of about 50 feet since I've owned it though. Up on to the trailer..... and off the trailer into the garage. If you're interested, I've documented the entire restoration: http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/engine-modifications/134306971-914ers-project-spoiled-brat-progress-thread.html

  9. THANKS!!! I bet that ground wire is my problem. I got the car home in October of 2008.... and immediately tore it apart. I just recovered the dash and put it back in this pst weekend. I plugged all the connectors back, but remembering everything was tough. Where (approximately) is that ground wire?
  10. I bought a new steering wheel, and modified the hub so it would fit. It came with 2 horn buttons..... 1 with 1 terminal the other with 2 terminals there is one black wire attached to the "disc" on the front side of the hub. There is another wire that the kit came with..... not attached to anything. I'm assuming it would be used with the 2-terminal horn button. which is it? How is it connected???
  11. Thanks Beast!! I haven't crawled up under it yet to specifically look for what you are talking about.,... but your directions were good... I think I can figure it out. Question: How should I jack the car when I do this? On ramps with the suspension compressed, or on jacks under the frame with the suspension hanging?
  12. I'm afraid I have no basis of comparison..... sever seen a gen 2. In fact..... never seen a gen 1 except the one I own.... so I'm really at a loss trying to understand what you are saying. I took a bunch of pics of the LR suspension of my 78 brat. can you use the pics to help explain what you mean? 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
  13. Thanks! Paint will help.... but thats probably a ways down the road
  14. The bodywork is "almost" done. I had rust holes big enough to fit my fist through... and now the car is as smooth as Angelina Jolie's backside. The interior is done.... just need to find some cool seats All the parts to do the 6-lug conversion are bought.... Wheels are 15x8 black steelies (Nascar style). Tires are 225/50/15. I'm going to want to set the fenders down on top of the tires.... looking to leave 1" - 1.5" gap. I can do the front..... I'm not thrilled about cutting springs.. but there are no aftermarket alternatives. Fortunately it won't be much, so hopefully it won't decrease strut life too much. The rear???? I know there is a way to lower the rear of a 78 brat.... but I have no idea how to do it. Is there a link? a tutorial? Pictures? Anything?? Thanks in advance
  15. Nice..... you don't happen to have any pictures do you?? did you do the front? If so, how? I can always join the spring cutters society.... but I'd like to avoid it if possible. If I take pics of the underside of my car...... can you point out exactly what some of the items are you're talking about? Maybe it's easy..... I'll take a look.
  16. Thanks!! I just bought 15 of them (way more than I need, just to be safe). $32 shipped.
  17. ^^^ Might have to.. cant find a cobalt bit to save my life. Maybe buy a pack of 6
  18. I'm assuming I need a Cobalt or a Carbide 14mm drill bit to cut 16 holes into 4 different rotors. Anyone know where I can get one? I've checked everywhere.... even eBay..... can't find anything but just your regular run-of-the-mill drill bits that will likely get chewed up against a rotor.
  19. I've been avoiding this.... because now I'm officially going to make myself an idiot. Where are the torsion bars on a Gen 1 brat..... what do they look like, and what do I do to them to lower the car. There.... I said it.... I'm an idiot.... are you happy?? LOL
  20. Anyone know what the correct LENGTH of the oem wheel studs is? You'd be amazed with all the after, market stuff, how little info out there is available on oem stuff. Anyone?
