  1. If you only want a small lift, you can clock the torsion bar spline. From memory you get about an inch and a half from each tooth. I ran mine on 3 clicks (4.5") for a while but the torsion bar actually sticks out so far that you are limited to a 26" tire. Some one has told me this before. Has anyone on here heard of doing this???
  2. Alright Gents, I have looked every where for a stamped number. All i can seem to find is a number 3. Are yall sure that it would be on there somewhere? It doesnt help that the motor is covered in oil and dirt so its really hard to see anything. Also what do you thing it would be close to? Whats a disty? Not sure what you mean by that. Im getting 4 tires tomorrow and will probably take my brat around in the country for the first time ive had it. Thanks for all of the help!! Kelly O.
  3. I am pretty sure i have the EA81! I have been thinkin this for a while now and cant remember why tho. lol. The starter is on top.. How can i find out FOR SURE what motor I have?
  4. I played with it yesterday and im pretty sure its not a dual speed. Does that mean im going to have a problem on the trail with some bigger tires?
  5. I put some pics up! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=95079

    how to?

If you could build some kinda bracket you could use a lock pin! They work very well and easy/quick to release. Just make sure you drill the right size hole.
  7. Ok ill just post pictures of hogs in the back of my brat when i get her going. lol Thanks for the tip. It doesnt get very cold where im at. I think todays high is 79!!! so ill probably go with the 10w.
  8. Im going to change the oil in my brat for the first time since i have had it. So how many quarts of oil does a EA81 hold? Also what oil would you gents suggest for a old motor with a lot of miles on it? 10w40? 20w40? Thanks Kelly O.
  9. I shot one that weighed 382lbs!! Should i post a photo or you think that would upset Zap?
  10. Yeah its going to be one good project car! lol, I spent about 4 hours tonight trying to get her to run right. Rerouted some vac lines and messed with the carb some more and its running great! Thats really what I wanted to accomplish before i start fixing it up. Im going to paint it flat army green, its going to be a hunting rig. Here in Texas we are having major problems with wild hogs and it would be great for that.
  11. I should have done this a few weeks ago but heres the scoop. This Brat was given to me from my inlaws. It has been sitting for about 5 years. I knew nothing about them and have never had a Subaru before. I have learn tons from this site and would like to thank everyone on here. What I have done so far. Cleaned gas tank, Cleaned fuel lines, Rebuilt fuel fuel pump (4 times lol), Tore apart the Carb and cleaned it, didnt kit it but i probably will soon, replaced spark plugs and plug wires. I bought a choke cable today and will install it soon bc the electric choke doesnt work and thats about it. I have plans to paint it soon and HOPEFULLY get a 4 inch lift for it. Enjoy the pics please feel free to comment or give me ideas. I will keep everyone posted on progress!!
  12. oh!! I have shifted it a few times and it really seems like there is only 2 different spots i can put the shifter in. Do you know if it was a dual range would i have to move the shifter left or right to find a different range? Thanks for the help.
  13. Cool thanks, it has the gear shifter, 4wd shifter and thats it.
  14. are you asking about dual range on the 4wd? if your asking about that is just one range, 4 wheel drive or not. I pretty sure thats how it is. I only drove it once down the alley bc the tires that are on there go flat so fast so im not 100% positive. lol
  15. Im going to do the 6 lug conversion to my brat. If i was to put a 4 inch lift on it would anyone know exactly whats the biggest size tire i could put on there without it rubbing to bad? It will have 15 inch wheels. I dont want to have to just go buy a tire to see what it is. anyone on here have a 4inch lifted brat that could help me with this? Thanks.
  16. Thats why i even asked, bc of the way the transmission looked. Thx
  17. Thats kinda strange but thats what i was thinkin. Thanks for clearing that up for me
  18. This might seem like a dumb question and if it is im sorry. The brat that i have is sitting on 2 flats and i just got it running the other day and havent had a chance to get in on the mud. So my question is, is it front wheel drive until you shift it into 4 wheel drive? or is it like most trucks its rear wheel drive until you shift it into 4 wheel drive? Thanks for the help. Kelly
  19. Man i wish i could get my hands on some of that stuff!!! It is a shame. :-\
  20. Thanks brumbyrunner, My brat isnt running perfectly yet, it runs a little better everytime i mess with it though. So it might be a little bit before i try and do anything major. I want to make sure shes gonna be some what dependable first. I am going to paint it this weekend. (just a flat army green)
  21. I seen a car onetime that had black pantie hose stretched over the lenses. It looked tinted and its cheap. lol
  22. I didnt know that. Thanks!!!!! That helps. I know where there are a couple of old brats are and they might have one i can take. Thanks again Kelly O
