Well It did over heat and lost power, Nobody has told me what direction to go in, inorder of fixing this. I'm 17 and getting into cars this was a $280 fixer upper and I guess Ill be selling it for that now too. Sorry I dont know where the thermostat is.

Just put on new head gaskets and I dont really care if the car is fast or not I just want a daily driver type of car that wont over heat. The only reason I got a front mount is cause there was a cheep one at u pull it. And Ive herd that the thermostat is in the radiator?

What does this plug do? The little white one. Its coming out of the distributor. Dont know what this is either? Thermostat??? And this? The reason I'm posting these is because my engine has a cooling problem and I'm trying to figure out why?? Thanks for any suggestions Oh also wondering how to install a front mount intercooler? I have an intercooler just need to see how people have installed theres. Thanks

It's not in too bad of shape the body is strait, the paint is fair, it runs good except for the switch to the fuel pump everything in the interior is good but the dash that is the bad part. Has a boost gauge and it says im running 7 lbs of boost. Its gets up. ;D I wont ask him!

How much Is a good Price? 1986 Xt Turbo- $1000?

When ever I slow down really fast and go to turn my Xt's rpm's will drop and then eventually stall. This started happening after I got a whole new distributor but it was used. Should I just get a new cap and rotor the used one looks kinda bad. Thanks.

have you checked the power to all your injectors too? That's was one of my problems my car would start then die cause the plugs on the injectors were dirty. Just a suggestion.

I got the Right disty for my car and It has so much more power. Its a huge difference!

Okay cause I have a non turbo distributor and it works but is missing the 2 other wires that don't go to the coil. I don't know what those wires go to?

Well I messed with the wiring and I think it was getting a bad connection because it got warm today and the fan popped on to cool it off so Ill see if this problem is fixed tomorrow when I can drive the car :] Also on another note I was wondering if an ea82t in a wagon would have the same distributor as an XT turbo? Thanks

Im not positive but I think that hose gets warm. why would the water be boiling out of the overflow?

There is a switch for the fan? Is it on the fan side of the radiator I want to replace the thermostat too, my car is the same way some times it will run cool and some times it will run to where it wants to over heat. Then the water steams out of the over fill or reservoir what ever that it's called. thanks for the suggestions too!

I don't think my thermostat is working because the car gets really hot and some times the electric fan wont turn on? I don't know if that has to do with the thermostat? Should I just get a new thermostat?

Oh Ya I have a manual but don't know if it's the Factory one? Im just wondering if one of the wires in the trunk ran the fuel pump, cause I have the pump directly wired to the battery with a little switch in the car.

I found out a while back that my trunk of my xt had a leek on both sides and was rusty in the spots the held water. and there looks like there were ground wires where the rust has eaten away the wire I was wondering what those ground wires do? or if there ground wires they attach directly to the body. Thanks.

How do I tune the car? Where would the screws be to tune it? on the throttle body?

Yeah I really want to do a front mount or just any type of intercooler so the air is not so hot going into the engine. Does any one know what the other two wires, that go into the distributor, do? and do the oil pan gaskets normally leek if there old?

Dosent the pressure go back into the turbo though? and is the stock bpv like an actual valve?

its under there but it doesn't show everything or I just don't understand all the things that its telling me.

Yeah it drives really good auctually has some what power for a 1.8 turbo The problem's my car had were 2 new headgaskets I striped the block out twice and helicoiled them then the water pump was loose for some reason??? Put rvt on that it fixed it then the intake manifold was leaking water so we put the old gasket on it with some rvt and it works great! Eventually I'm going to put a brand new gasket on it but untill then it's running good :] And now it seems like it needs a new oil pan gasket because it drips oil on to the exhaust and smokes a little bit. but nothing too major. It also needs a new exhaust, an intercooler cause I dont like how hot the air is going into the engine, and I want a BOV so the pressure from the turbo has somewhere to go. Im gonna try to take a video of it to show people what it sounds like if they think anything sounds wrong. It starts a little rough but when it gets warmed up it goes down to idle perfect :] There is also some vacume stuff I want to figure out because there is soooo many vacuum lines going every where! Finally! it runs and doesn't leak any fluids it idles good and sounds good But a new exhaust would be good.

Ok well It worked!! yay it runs good and dosent leak any water or oil. So now i need to get the right distributor lol

I ended up putting the old gasket in and putting rtv around the whole thing, and I hope it works.
