Replacing CV Joint
Hi All. I am doing my first CV Joint swap next weekend and remembered someone putting up a guide on how to do subie CV's a few months back. I have searched the forums and can't seem to find it so if anyone has a link to a guide on doing a CV Joint on a subaru (preferably an EA82) that would be great as I think I know what I am doing but would be nice to follow a guide/instructions just to be on the safe side. Thanks Alot

It finally goes
Love the wheels! Are they the standard 4 stud subie pattern? do you know what they are called?

New Brakes!
getting all that paint on the rotors can't possibly be good for them

Tachometer Troubles...
My Tach's wiring is like this: * One wire to the Positive of the ignition coil. * One wire to the negative of the ignition coil. * One wire to the negative of the battery. Simple as that.

The projects complete
To all who likes the wheels. Apparently they are Momo Vegas but never been able to confirm that. Yeah they are pretty rare in aus too. Pretty much the only good looking alloys you can get in that stud pattern. I have had so many people want to buy them off me but I am not getting rid of them (Got lucky at some local wreckers who didn't know how rare and valuable they were and got the set for $150AU)

Rear struts squeaking
Hi All. My Loyale Wagon has recently developed a squeak coming from the rear springs/shocks. They are only 8 months old so they are not in bad shape they just squeak while driving (my street is a little bumpy so its pretty annoying). Anyone have any ideas what I could be and how I could fix it. Thanks Alot.

The projects complete
Yep, the previous owner had it since it was new and only ever drove to the shops and back so it was always treated well. Nah no lift for me (I will on the MY Wagon if I get one for offroading). But if anything I will lower this one down the track as its my road car.

The projects complete
Well, just finished my latest project (All but the right hand CV joint which is getting done next week). I have been slowly working on the L Series (Loyale for all of you in the US) for a couple of years now and making my own little modifications along the way. Mods: * SAAS Hood Scoop * 13" Momo Vega Alloy Wheels * Boss Steering wheel * Modified front grille. * Pioneer Head Unit + 2x DNA 160W Speakers + iPod Dock * Navman S150 GPS (Mounted under head unit) * SAAS Gear Boot * Gen 1 Liberty Gear Knob * SAAS Pedals * 3" Tacho * Immobilizer * Removed the bullbar that came with it and put the stock bumper on (PM me if anyone wants to buy the bullbar) * 3" Straight pipe + 5" Canon Muffler I'm happy with the EA82 engine for now as its running perfectly (just did a 3000km trip round victoria without a hitch). If the engine ever has any issues I will consider an EJ but which its running fine there isn't much point upgrading. This is a road L Series it will not be used 4WDing. (I am sourcing an old MY Wagon as a dedicated offroader now this one is done) as this one has no dents or rust and is completely straight so I don't want to ruin if offroading.

Diesel motor transplant, 1990 Subaru Loyale Wagon
Your best bet would be to source one of the new Suby diesel engines. It wont be cheap though.

This is the list of things I have to fix over the next couple of months: * CV Joint * replace all boots (they are split) * wheel bearings * rear bushes * Front and rear struts * Rack shaft All up going to cost me around $1600 AU So I feel for you

brat/brumby/284mv - track/drift build
Did you have to do much alterations to the seat rails to fit the sparco seats? I am looking to something similar with my wagon.

Steering rack shudder
Hi All. After ruling out that my rotors were not warped I am moving on to the theory that my problem might be to do with the steering rack. The problem: When I brake from 20-30mph or more I get heavy vibrations from the steering column. I called the local road side assistance guy out today for a second opinion and he said it was more than likely the steering rack too. Does anyone know specifically what the problem could be (maybe as simple as a loose bolt) Since I am new to working on my own cars it would be great if someone could post some pics of areas to look at so I know what im looking for. Thanks all. (please be patient with me im still learning) (Btw its a 1990 DL Wagon)

Heavy vibrations when braking
Thanks. I might go up to the wreckers and grab some off another DL if there are any in decent condition.

Heavy vibrations when braking
Hi All. When traveling at 55 mp/h or more and I put my foot on the brake my steering wheel/steering column starts shuddering so bad I almost loose control of the car. I have been told that my brake discs need to be machined but I have also been told by others it could be my steering rack. Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it? Im sick of people getting in my car and thinking they are about to die Thanks (p.s its a 1990 DL wagon)

Knocking noise from rear of engine
Hi Guys. My 1990 DL wagon is starting to make some strange knocking noises from the rear of the engine block or maybe the start of the gearbox (that general region). I know its not the normal EA82 lifter ticking because I used to have that issue and it was a very distinct sound but this is different. The problem only seems to occur when I start the car and the engine is warm. it goes away after around 200 yards of driving. It doesn't seem to be too much of an issue, just curious as to whats causing it. Thanks

Extremely high idle
mine idles high on a cold start. after a couple of miles it starts running like normal

Touring wagon cluster in Sports Wagon
Hi All. I have a 1990 L series (Loyale for everyone in the US) sports wagon. I am sick of the instrument cluster with only the speedo that comes with the sports. I would like to head up to upullit tomorrow and get a cluster from a touring wagon that has both the tacho and speedo. My question is... Can I do a straight swap. Is it just as simple as unplugging the old cluster and plugging the new one in or do I need extra wiring for the touring wagon cluster to run the tacho etc etc. I do have a custom 2" tacho but I would much prefer the real deal. Thanks ________

What Have You Done to your Soobie lately? (Please post in here and keep it going)
Nothing special on mine. Just installed a new GPS unit, resprayed the air box on the carby to make it look nice. Over the past 6 months I have done: * Seats * Pedals * Gear Knob * Momo Wheel * Pioneer Headunit + DNA Speakers * 3" Tacho * 3" straight pipe (No Cat) + 5" Canon Muffler (Gives it that deep boxer sound). Planned for the next 12 Months: * EJ22 or MPFI EA82 (can't stand the ************ economy of the carby) * Get a new hub engineered so I can run the 5 Stud WRX rims. * Respray engine bay. * Fog Lights

Will my Ea-82T run without the turbo?
+1 the EA81 is the subaru engine of choice for light aircraft/hovercraft projects.

Subarus racing on ICE made the news!
I wish we had snow/ice here in Australia. The best we have to play with is dirt (especially when its muddy, but thats only when it rains which aint often)
