  1. lets see...... prices are rounded somewhat.

    Trans - $70

    Clutch - $120

    Flywheel - $20

    Driveshaft - $50

    Tires - $500

The tires were the worst part. I did all the labor myself minus getting the flywheel resurfaced. I filed out the flywheel to bolt up to my trans by hand (MUCH better to have a machine shop drill the holes out). Also, I rebuilt my trans and swapped the axle stubs for the bigger sized ones so my stock axles would still work.

If you just go for a lift and not crazy offroad you might want to consider top hat spacers. Relatively inexpensive and they perk the cars ride a bit. My buddy ran then in his newer impreza with some general grabber tires and the thing looked mean. The lift itself wouldn't kill the life of the car. swapping out the trans makes it a little different, and offroading it might hurt it a little also. But just make sure to do regular up-keep and you should be good to go.

  2. Sorry, I don't get on here as often as I used to. Those struts should work well for you. The height I am not 100% sure. I never did any measuring I just threw them on, and I could fit my tires so I was happy. You will have to use your stock rear top hats and you will need a spacer on the top of the shock cylinder (I used a washer and filed the opening a bit bigger). The fronts should (should!) bolt right up. The lateral link bracket will help bring your rear tires back a bit more centered in the wheel well but even with those I still had to massage (beat the living crap out of) the paneling right behind the rear doors to fit my 215/75r15 tires. Hopefully this helps you some.

  3. The struts and springs were about $80 from a junkyard

The trans was about $50 on half off day

I swapped my front diff from the 5 speed over to the dual range so I didn't have to make custom axles. I got my adapter plate for like $60 from a guy I know, and then the flywheel was $20, and the clutch was $130.so I guess before the tires it cost only like $340

I actually took the skidplate off when i rebuilt the trans so I haven't had it on for about a month. but for the week or so i had it on the heat was no problem. I would like to get some slots cut in it or some holes drilled to allow some air flow possibly. Good luck on the build and make a thread so we all can follow along and give input as needed.

  4. The brat sold pretty fast. Hopefully it went to a good home. What junkyard was the brat at? because I have been to kurts and state street and didn't see anything.

  5. I was going to text you but my phone seems to have lost your number... There is a brat on ksl in the cars for $150. It doesn't run but its a perfect candidate for a potential EJ swap... Thought you might be interested. If you do buy it, I will buy the camper shell from you that the guy won't sell separately :D

  6. yeah the one under the dash is what im wanting to experiment with. Are you willing to just give it up for free? :D Either way, give me a text or call when I could come get it. 801.376.8490 Glenn

  7. So did you already ditch the car you used for your engine swap? If not I was hoping to snag the fuse block out of it. I want to run a secondary fuse block for things such as lights, cb, ham radio, more lights, etc.

  8. I borrowed a buddies hoist. He is now using his though. Yeah the lift is in but its giving me grief, the struts are rubbing inside the towers so I have to trim some metal, and then make a strut brace for support. I saw your car all primer painted up on 6th west and almost 8th south. Let me know if you need help on your swap. Its still fairly fresh on my mind right now.

  9. Yes that is my engine for sale on KSL. I do not know if the heads will fit, I think someone has a thread about it somewhere on here if you search around. I have someone who might want to buy the whole thing for $50 but im not holding out, if you want the heads then by all means take the engine for the heads.

  10. did you ever get all your wiring figured out for your swap? I am getting close on mine, just trying to figure out where the ECU starter switch, neutral switch, and read memory control wires go...

  11. oh im more than ready to get it muddy... Unfortunately it's not ready. Got to get my driveshaft put in tomorrow after work, and then finish misc wiring and the exhaust. Hopefully by the weekend it will be working.

  12. I have actually been meaning to drop by there to get a part for my Impreza. I blew out a trunk lid shock and autozone and the sort don't carry the right size. Been a bit too busy with the brats operation.

  13. I have only found 2 brat's for sale in Utah on KSL. And they aren't in the best shape. Check around in the classifieds on craigslist, and the classifieds on here as well.

  14. Yeah I live in Orem for now. I'm moving in January for schooling to Ogden.

  15. Nice to see other subaru fans from Orem.
