  1. I will be selling this car as money is tight. If anyone is interested let me know. The car always starts easy and runs very well. Mechanically the car is in pretty great shape. There is some rust but nothing structural. Van
  2. Finished the basket last fall. Cant believe this car is still running like a champ. Replaced the inner tie rod ends n boots, and a ball joint, as well as doing some brake work.
  3. Very nicely done bro. I will def follow to see your progress. Hopefully I will get my radiator moved before you do. We will see. Van
  4. I agree. I think that my module/controle unit (listed as 1 in the diag above) is faulty but I cant find any information on it. Rebult modules at $750. I guess I will have to swap out fromthe junk yard to see if I have any further issues. If anyone has rebuilt one or has any usfull info let me know.
  5. I'ts holding up pretty well. A broken upper coolant hose is the only failure due to the lift. I suppose I put about 2.5 or 3k on it so far. Welded this up today... Next I'll bend/drill/weld the mounting tabs and grind all the welds. I need some cheap or free bar stock to finish the rack though. -Van
  6. They are amazing, Last year I was passing all the trucks and suv as they slid sideways down hills. Thanks, I think that’s the only time anything I have owned has been referred to as 'insanely cool'. Yes the windows still work. I will have to put a thick coat of wax on them (i'm thinking) to not have the paint rubbed off etc... If I'm gonna put the windows up and down.
  7. Now to work on this and that and waiting:banana: for it to snow....
  8. made a few runs today. Everything seems to be running good. The valve cover leak is getting pretty bad so I picked up new gaskets to put in this weekend..
  9. It was the LSi and it is still all stock with 229.9k miles on it. I am always amaized at how well its still running dispite heavy abuse from previouse owners. Not really much of a power house, but its still pulled full sized trucks and vans out of fields of mud and ice. probly took a year off the life of the tranz though. blind spots.. yes. only advanced jedi would attempt any hi-speed backing through the woods and such. the paint cost about $70. I got a gal of white and quarts of black, green and yellow. I mixed all the colors on the car except the black. the white on the car is actually a dirty white. the green is greener then I wanted. I was going for more of a drab olive but maybe next time it needs painting I'll get it right. p.s. if anyone has any helpful ideas about my exhaust and trans problems as previously posted I could use the help.. Van
  10. I don't Know.. I guess because I could. It still passed safty inspection, so I'm happy. You thinking it was a bad idea?
  11. How about, 'The Porky Lil' Snow-Queen That Could'
  12. Fenders trimmed N welded. White... Grey... Green... Taping for black... more to come...
  13. My trans wont go into Park. Any Ideas? The Shift linkage is in one peice still and I tried to move the lever on the side of the trans into park by hand but it wouldnt go. Is there an external senser that would keep it from shifting? Has anyone had one of these '4EAT' auto trans apart? What internal parts would keep the gear select lever from moving into the Park position? Thanks, Van
  14. I want to move the exhaust. I would have liked to run it over the axle type cross members, but the tank is in the way. Any one have any really good ideas of where to put it to get it away from the ground. I do run this thing on the road in winter so I do have to keep the exhaust.
  15. This car was gifted to me by an old farmer who had it sitting out in a field for a year or so cuz he had given up on it. It had 200k and wouldn’t run. I got it running well again and sold it to an acquaintance. When I sold it to him, I told him to change the timing belt asap cuz it probably had the original one in it. About two years and 40k miles later, he gave it back to me because the timing belt had broke and it needed a new exhaust. Actually the timing belt hadn’t broken... at first. The idlers bearings had run dry and bent and half tore its mounting bolt out of the block, and that had shredded the belt. I figured that having been given the car twice was a sign that the abused rust bucket was meant to stay with me. I didn’t need another car though, so I decided to take it off road. Now to answer your question, yes, I cut the back to give myself better clearance and increase my angle. I have a lot of other ideas and things I intend to do to it, just a matter of time and luck.
