  1. My GL10 has about everything but the air suspension. Or a dual Transfercase. :-\
  2. I'll try the fuel injection cleaner as it might need it anyway. Thanks for the suggestion. I have access to another motor and sensors, Maybe i'll take some readings off them and see what I have. On the cat, Maybe some, I mostly did it for the MPG gain. I also plan on tweaking the turbo in the future and did not want the restriction.
  3. I have an '87 Turbo Wagon with this strange hesitation. Half of the time it runs fine and the other half its like a good amount of travel on the gas pedal is not doing anything. You go to accelerate out of a corner and nothings there. If you floor it, it takes off. Here is what I've done: - Complete tune up. Plugs to the Rotor and air filter. - Checked timing. - Changed oil and replaced the oil pump gasket (had the "tick"). - Adjusted the TPS. The screws were loose on it and it had a bottom end dead spot. Different from the current problem. - Gutted the Cat. - Cut the bottom of the air box and removed the intake muffler. When I adjusted the TPS I noticed that it was at 0 volts at idle and then jumped to ~4.5 volts when it was moved some. Others that I have setup have been more linear to actually show where the throttle position was. So does this sensor just tell the computer that the throttle is open and the MAF handles the rest? Or do I need another TPS? Thanks.
  4. I know the owner of the local boneyard. I think I'll work a partial trade deal with him. I might try this swap in a few weeks. I also found the original window sticker and purchase paperwork in the glovebox. Interesting stuff to read through.
  5. Ahh, I see! I was under the impression that the tranny and transfer were two seperate units (I've never wrenched on this type of vehicle, but have on others). Sounds like its more of an integrated single unit then. So basically, I can find a 5 speed dual range unit with the levers, grab the center console piece and I'm good to go sounds like. Maybe I'll hit the junkyard this week and see what I come up with.......
  6. I have an '87 GL10 turbo with the 5 speed and the push button 4 wheel. Can I keep the same tranny and just swap the transfer case to get dual range? I searched around and found that its a decent swap but was unsure of the tranny. Thanks.
  7. I just bought an '87 GL10 Turbo 4x4 Wagon for $900. It has 180,000 miles but a younger motor put into it with new brakes, clutch, and radiator. Sure is a lot more fun to drive then my 1 ton Dually truck. Lots cheaper too. I'm already reading up and increasing the Turbo and some other things. Searching has been my friend.
  8. Thanks for the reply's! The motors been swapped out once and seems to be in good shape. I'll check the CVC'c and the frame in the front. I expect the frame to be in good condition as I dont see too much frame rot out here in the west. Where do the oil leaks happen? I'll look for that also.
  9. I've been looking for a vehicle to get around in with gas prices on the rise and came across an '87 GL10 Turbo Wagon part-time 4x4. I immediately thought of all the fun me and my buddies had in these wagons in High School. I was always impressed how good these things ran and performed. I dont have much experience with the turbo side of them though. This car also seems to be loaded with all the bells and whistles. It has a digital readout on the dash full air and power, more then I'll ever need. It has a new clutch and radiator and the motor runs strong (cant remember the miles on it). I can pick it up for $900. Is there anything that I should look for before I hand over cash? I also searched and it looks like I can expect between 20 and 30 mpg depending on conditions. The only thing it seems to be missing is a low range but I can deal with that. Thanks in advance for your help.
