  1. Thanks! I've been looking through USMB for a few days now. I was surprised at how friendly everyone is. I'm definitely looking forward to getting my hands dirty... She's AWD, with 207,000 miles. Her last owner worked at an auto shop, and took good care of her, but he didn't invest much so there is still a lot to do. I'll be driving her to Ocean shores in OCT to spend some time on the coast. If anyone is interested in a BBQ, I'll bring lots of drinks.
  2. '95 Legacy has 207,000 original miles, and still ticking! It's my first, and definitely not my last Subaru.
  3. Going with a larger or smaller tire diameter throws off the speedometer and the antilock brakes and stability system calibrations, if your car has them. Increasing tire diameter also can be unsafe because it makes your brakes work harder to stop the car. A few automakers have taken a piece of the upgrade pie by offering larger-diameter tire-and-wheel packages that have been run through all their safety and durability testing. A certified dealer installs them and recalibrates the speedometer, ABS, etc. at the same time.
  4. I just bought my first Subaru ('95 Legacy) in Eugene, OR. I'm currently on the other side of the planet (Iraq), and won't be able to start working on her for another 67 days. She needs a lot of work done. CV halfshafts in the front need to be replaced, along with the driverside headlamp assembly, knock sensor, seatbelts, and shifter bushings. I have a whole list of other things I plan on doing as well, to prevent future problems. If anyone has any advice, or would like to get together in a few months, let me know.
  5. $78 for a new sensor? That doesn't sound right. Check Autozone.com. You can get a new sensor with 2yr warranty for $56. Replacing it is a 10 minute job. Very easy.
