  1. I think it'll be a little while on the pushbar, I'm going to Nicaragua for 6 weeks so you and me will have to wait... Hopefully I'll take care of that once I get back, and pictures will be the first thing I do.
  2. No I didn't. Perhaps that will be next on my list. I have a friend building me a small push-bar for the front of it, hopefully that will tie in nicely with the wheels. I'm thinking gloss black for that as well.
  3. Well I love the Rolling Stones so I heeded their advice and painted my rims black. And I thought it'd make my Sub look a little more masculine. I used a wire brush on a drill to get rid of the flaking clear-coat, then I sanded them and used steel wool and paint thinner. I used Rustoleum Self Etching Primer to start with, two coats of that and two hours to dry. Then I used gloss black Rustoleum paint. I would've used their wheel paint but they only had matte black. I did three coats of the black, and should have done four but I ran out. I let that dry over night. This morning I tried to clean up my lug nuts but some are too rusty to even bother with. Oh well. Overall I'm pretty pleased with the result. Unfortunately, I made some pretty deep grooves with the wire brush and didn't sand them out well enough. But it looks good from 5 feet so I'm happy. I parked next to my neighbors Subaru for a little comparison. Hope you enjoy, let me know what you think or if you have any questions or tips for next time.
  4. Wow, you are really plowing that! Looks like fun. Did you ever get stuck?
  5. Now I understand why it's so strong! That design is basically what I have in mind for my friend to build for me. I think I will have mine a little shorter than yours. Is there a reason you built it so it'd sit above the hood? I Think I would like mine to be just under the grille.
  6. 50 pounds!? That thing is meaty! How thick of tubing did you go with? And did you use a bender or did you cut and weld? I can't tell from your original pictures.
  7. That's too bad you can't bolt the push bar on. I guess welding will do. Does your push bar rest against the existing bumper?
  8. Also, what'd you use for the lift?
  9. And it feels solid? Like to hold the weight of the car for towing/pulling/un-stucking applications? I'm excited for the pictures.
  10. That thing is sweet! I was looking to make a grille guard like that myself, but I'm baffled; I can't find a suitable place to mount it and have it be as functional as it looks. Can you explain or take a picture of where you mounted it underneath? Thanks a lot. Quite the inspiration!
  11. This thing is sweet! Looks like a blast. I can't wait for some wheelin' pictures...
  12. Thanks for all the info guys, I'll try to get that done here soon and post some pictures for you. I know how everyone loves pictures... Thanks for all the advice.
  13. Thanks. Well I guess if no one disagrees with the Hellas, then that will be my choice. Also, do you put a sweet little toggle somewhere on your dash then?
  14. Hello all, I'm mostly new around here, I've got myself a '96 Legacy Outback and I want to put a couple of lights on the rack to bring out the wagon's masculinity. I've searched as much as I can on here but I've failed to find any threads on this topic. What are the best lights for the money? I'm looking to spend under $100 for 2 lights and the whole shebang to rig it up. Are the Hella 500s the best for the money? I'm not looking for serious off-roading but I want some lights that will reliably turn on when I tell them to. Any suggestions? Also what is the best way to mount and wire these while maintaining a respectable appearance? Is this easy to do? And will the stock roof rack work for this? Pictures are great too. Thanks a lot for any response.
  15. ^Nice ride! I've got a '96 and was curious about doing a lift and bumper kinda like that. Is this your daily driver? How much did all of it cost? And are you satisfied with the result?
