  1. The subaru FSM says to use liquid gasket maker for the oil seals.
  2. Been doing a lot of wiring fixes on my 80 brat. These seem to be the correct wiring diagrams. I have the ones from the haynes manual if you want those as well but I think these are more accurate. Happy to see another Texas Brat!
  3. Howdy I am having similarish issues. How do I know which wires are the a,h,f,and e terminals? Also you can find the wiring diagrams here. They are a tad bit different then my haynes manual and im not sure whats correct.
  4. Can i get a copy to this write up please?
  5. Thanks for the reply. Also could this be the cause of high idle issues?
  6. So saturday was the first time that we've been able to drive my brat more than .1 miles. We took it up to 4th and eveerything seemed alright. As we go to park it, the car begins to idle a little high. When we got back the car had spewed oil all over the enginebay from the breather tubes on the valve covers. They werent connected to anything and the passenger side spewed more than the drivers side. This https://imgur.com/qKG9bU2 shows the routing for the pcv valve. We currently dont have anything connected to the pcv valve. It worries me if we do this and it spews oil again it will mess up my carb/motor due to oil going into the intake. Id appreciate some thoughts on whats happening. Thanks yall are the best!
  7. I found a thread that might be helpful for you. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/100553-weber-carb-for-a-brat/
  8. Yeah I got the $23 one just cuz mines kinda fucked up. I'm pretty sure it's opposite with the Carter carb.
  9. The site says it's universally jetted but you may need to adjust it
  10. Literally ordered one from carbs unlimited a couple of hours ago. I think GD suggested them in another thread. Look up the part numbers from the kit on redlines website then order everything separately on carbs unlimited. It's like 60 dollars cheaper than the kit.
  11. I will second a request for these ^^^ I too have the haynes and need to get some serious wiring done on my 80 brat. Thanks for any and all help.
  12. Did not lubricate the tap. Doing something wrong is definitely a possibility. The hole is pretty fucked now so we are going to try helicoils. Thanks all for the help. Ill update when finished.
  13. Im going to start this off by saying I dont know the most about cars but I am learning. I also use the help of my brother a lot because he actually knows what he is doing when it comes to cars. So when I first got my brat we were replacing the water pump and a bolt broke off. We drilled the bolt out and got it out but it fucked up the threads on the hole. We tried to use a tap set to make new threads but none of the taps worked because the block was too strong. All of the taps would just round out. We drilled the hole out some more and tried to jb weld a stud into the hole and use a nut to tighten it but the jb weld didnt hold. Im pretty sure the water pump wont seal properly with only 4 bolts tightened. I was thinking of jbwelding some sort of anchor in the hole and then tightening a bolt onto that im not sure if itd work though. Need some help. Thanks a bunch!
  14. Does anyone have a wiring diagram that they could scan for a 1980 subaru brat . My manual got ruined and I could really use it before the new one gets here. Thanks a bunch.
