wow that looks sweet. no dents or anything. and headlight washers.

how did the shaft look? was it scored in any way? surface quality is important. also the front bearing is very good idea to change at the same time.
basically theres no way to tell unless its apart

i would check the idle air valve for some debris. also the air filter if its been sitting, might find a rats nest, i did.
-
wow! i would get an oil analysis.

wait so you have to make sure it has no codes for a title transfer? how strange. but you can remove the airbag with no problems?
-
there is a company called damper dudes that repairs these things.

sure, if you remote mounted it. a oil cooler is also a great idea

a bad valve would surely have shown up on a compression test

wow my wagon wouldnt beat a bus.

is the weber larger as well? larger venturis would let you have more power.

so you only need a valve job on one head? or are you going to do both so they are even.
most people say that the rear main seal isnt worth the effort if its not leaking. theres a few threads on it.

this car is very rare. yes the engine is good, but the heads dont flow as well as the newer models so they arent worth as much as the block.

Subaru's are way better than most SUV's because of lower center of gravity, and better weight distribution... but with all season tires, anything sucks.
oh are they ever. my 89 cherokee is GREAT in ice, with the right tyres (Kumho MT) but never was worth a damn in snow. as soon as you lift off the gas it oversteered even at 10 mph. it has a limited slip front and rear diff. yes it has left me in the ditch a few times. the subaru is so much better in snow!
