  1. well it was a 97 legacy (non outback) so im guessing 2.2..... didnt really look at it to be honest..... it was @ the junkyard and was already running so i drove it around in the yard and all the gears work and shifts realllll smooth from 1-5 and reverse.....so i put a big yellow cone on it and they are removing it for me with the rear end for $350 total cost..... deal? i think so

having the flywheel resurfaced....is that usually expensive or not? doin this on a budget....im broke....get paid $300 every week and i pay all the bills for 2 people (me n my gf) so moneys kinda tight for this

  2. well i already got the pedals and clutch cable.... i just need this old cable for now so i can keep my car on the road....when i get it up and running and i get the funds (shortly after its done) ill buy a new cable lol

also that kept my mind at ease knowing that i can switch that tranny to cable because i think GD told me 90-96 ( non turbo) was all cable and i bought a 97 so i was a lil worried cuz thats all i could find lol.

im gunna buy a new clutch kit and probably a used flywheel....just not sure if i wanna go used or new yet.... i need flywheel bolts though...any idea where to get those?

  3. just put a deposit down for a 97 5 speed tranny and matching rear end off same car.

this will fit on my 95 legacy wagon right?

i know about everything else just making sure it'll bolt up and uses a cable clutch..... now how about rear dif ratio? its supposed to be a 3.90 but i thought the 95 4eat was that same ratio......

im prolly wrong but someone needs to clarify this for me :)

    thanks guys.

p.s. trans n rear diff have 193k on them but i was actually able to test drive the car at the junkyard and it shifts like a dream  LMAO got them both for $350.... not a bad deal considering i didnt hafta remove them myself!

so far my costs as far as 5 speed swap are this.

    tranny and rear diff. $350

shifter linkage, shifter trim n boot, pedal assy. and trans crossmember $25

mt wagon driveshaft from 95 wagon. $75

still need clutch kit and flywheel and flywheel mounting bolts (cuz they are longer) anyone got some bolts for me? im doin this on a budget and ive done well so far for parts.

    wiring should be fun.

**ALSO NEED WIRING DIAGRAM FOR (95 4EAT)** where the plug is in the engine bay..... like a pinout so i know which wires to splice into where and what not lol

    thanks guys!!!!

  4. ok so my work has a nice set on 16" rims that i want and they have a universal 5 lug bolt pattern...they look like they would fit..... question is.... would 225/60/16 fit on a stock 95 legacy wagon? if not what about a 225/40/16? im worried about the width of the tire hitting either on the spring perch or on the fender liner when the wheel is turned. anybody done this?

basically whats the widest tire i can put safely on my car?

    thanks guys!

  5. so i understand what yall are sayin.....why cant he take the ej22 block and just bolt all the ej25 stuff on.....it may be a loss in compression due to using the 2.5 heads on the 2.2...... but arent the blocks and internals the same? wouldnt that be the cheapest and easiest (well....if he does it himself)

and idk how much he wanted for it..... he's also got a 94? svx for sale too lol

  6. i got a 95 legacy wagon ej22e

mods: spectre cold air intake routed into the bumper through pass. fender.

    and fart can exhaust (lol)

    and i run synthetic

i get around 25 highway and 20 city.

im also hauling a constant 200lbs of stereo in the back......

i have also found that if i put in injector cleaner or dry gas i burn up the tank QUICK.....

i usually get in between 200-235 miles per tank ( 10 gallon tank)

just replaced fuel filter and did tune up with ngk platinums and some pep boys wires and noticed a couple more mpg ( as long as i dont have my foot buried in it :brow: )

also noticed when im pulling alot of current from my alternator it uses a good amount of gas im guessing from increased drag on the engine....i use every bit of the 85 amps it puts out..... i got 4 guage wiring off the alt to the front battery and to the 2 batteries in the hatch.

hope this long a** post helps :)

  7. which brand fuel filter should i use? what do you guys use? what brand do i stay away from?

gunna replace mine tomarrow and do the tune up

it needs it :) hopefully the fuel filter is the culprit of a small but annoying problem......i let off the gas and itll bog down quick n then be fine but it does it every time i hit the gas then let off lol and when its cold it doesnt have alot of power till i get it rolling almost like its having a hard time.....

95 legacy wagon 119000 miles 4eat. all the fluids are good except the oil which is also getting changed 2marrow.

also i know to get ngk plugs but what about wires? what brand?

    thanks guys :)

oh and fl is front left meaning driver side. always remember left is driver side and right is pass. side. like you were looking from the driver seat.

  9. 95 legacy wagon ej22e.... doin a 5 speed swap come july....need to plan ahead lol

what do i need all in all for a list of parts? i have an idea but just wanting to know if i missed anything...... im getting the pedal assy. , tranny crossmember, and shifter /shift linkage tomarrow for $25 :)

now i know that i need a short throw shifter to clear the console for the a/t shifter.....could someone shed a lil light on that also?

any tips tricks? also how hard is it to remove flexplate bolts? and what ft lbs do i torque to putting the flywheel on?

    my list:

    driveshaft for mt

    misc. wiring done.

    tranny and matching rear diff.

new clutch kit and flywheel and pressure plate.

hydro or cable? not sure..... shed some light?

clutch alignment tool... which one? spline count?

also are all awd front axle splines the same for all trannys that will fit my car?

what to stay away from at all costs? easy mistakes?

anyone have any of these parts thatll ship to ct for a reasonable price? doin this on a budget.

GD i bet you would be the one with the most info on this lol

    any info is definitly appreciated!

    thanks!
