  1. I need to replace the front bumper on my 87 brat that I recently picked up. The front end is smashed up and the bumper needs to be replaced. All three local yards near me have plenty of chrome bumpers from the 82s but not a single plastic one from the other EA81 years. Anyway, the 82 seems to attach to the body totally different than the one on my car. Mine has two bolts on each side connecting the bumper brackets to the frame. The chrome ones look to have one bolt and the brackets look welded on. Is there an easy way to swap an 82 bumper onto the 87 Brat? I kind of like the chrome look anyway. Keith
  2. Hi guys, Spent all day saturday tinkering in the 87 brat I picked up two weeks ago. Its got some nice front end damage that I need to straighten out. I got a new hood and fender from the junk yard, but the new, straight hood won't close, becuase the receiving latch in front of the radiator is 1 1/2 inces to the right of where it should be. I tried tweaking the hinges to get it to like up, but all that did was make the hood rub against the air cowling. I plan to do the junk yard parts swap on all the parts I can myself but I think I'll need to get the front end pulled straight at a body shop. What kind of price should I expect to have the frame pulled that 1 1/2 inces? Keith
  3. Hi Guys, I picked up the Brat last friday and am excited to start working on it. The body is the main problem. Looks like someone's ex-girlfriend took a sledge hammer to it. There are dings and dents everywhere you look. Most of the stuff can be taken care of when I ge the thing painted, but the front end was in an accident and it needs a new front bumber, both fenders and a hood. THe car is a 1987. I am assuming that the hood, fenders and bumbers are all the same on any sube of that body styling. Since I know the Pick-n-Pull lots around here have lots of wagons and hatches, but usually no Brats, I am hoping these parts are all the same. Can someone confirm this for me? Also, the tailgate on the Brat is beat up. Does anyone in Northern CA have a tailgate that is in good condition? And how about the chrome trim that goes around the top edge of the bed? Thanks. Keith
  4. I'm wondering if it may be time to replace the radiator in my 89 GL-10 turbo. I have been having an intermittent engine hesitation/shaking problem for some time now that I haven't been able to get rid of. I have tried all sorts of stuff to get it to go away and now am thinking that the cooling system may be causing some of the problem. The shaking happens when I am going up hills at 50mph or faster. The engine temp gauge (digital) is not reading red, but under the hood the engine just seems to be scorching hot! I've heard that the digital gauges can be a bit wacky at times. Does anyone think that swapping out the rad would help. I've had the car about 5 years, flushed the rad once. Recently, in hot Northern CA, I've been hearing the coolant boiling in the rad after I turn the car off. Any advice would be nice, including tips on swapping out the rad. I read the info in the repair page of this board.
