Going to need some machine work done soon and am wanting to know if there are any good machine shops in central Iowa that know how to work on Subaru stuff. Thanks.

EJ22T into a 98 Forester?
I'm not leery of doing the HG's, but I was kinda eying bh's longblock and had visions of making myself a turbo Forester. I'm sure it can be done...

EJ22T into a 98 Forester?
Well, actually, I was just thinking about starting with the block, changing crank, rods, and pistons, bolting on newer heads, and keeping the Forester's wiring.

EJ22T into a 98 Forester?
Would this motor be a good swap candidate? The 'ol Forester has HG issues, and am contemplating a swap rather than a fix. Opinions?

Where to buy a replacement rear wiper arm ('85 GL Wagon)
Hello. I've searched on this topic quite a bit (so refrain from the flame, puddin' tame) and haven't been able to determine if I can buy a replacement rear wiper arm for The Goat (aka "the rusty hunk"). Problem: The blade isn't pressing hard enough against the glass to do an acceptable job of clearage. I could put a little more "spring" in the spring, but if I had my druthers, I'd rather just replace the thing. Question: Can I buy a replacement? If so, where? Thanks, That poor guy who bought that car.

how to clean this...
I too, have powerwashed many engines (like at the car wash) with no problems. I just try not to spray DIRECTLY onto electrical components. You should be fine, and yes Wal-Mart sells Simple Green concentrate - you can dilute it down to whatever you think strength is called for.

Wow! NIB, even. I might consider buying it if I lived in the mountains...

Very cool. It's kind of amazing that some of these are still in their cars.

- Defrost only works when I don't need it.
Thanks for the suggestion. I think I'll give that a try. It works pretty good when the weather's above 30 F.- Defrost only works when I don't need it.

I will do that. Thanks!- New Goat Owner from Iowa
Thanks! Been doing a lot of fixing...- Defrost only works when I don't need it.
Well, apparently vacuum isn't the issue: I've 20" @ idle and still no defrost until...well until something happens, I'm not sure what makes it start working. All I know is that it acts much worse the colder the weather is. It's been a little warmer 'round here lately and so it has been working a little better. So, yeah, something seems to be "sticking." Guess I'll trace the lines and see if there's something spliced into the vacuum line that isn't behaving the way it should. - Defrost only works when I don't need it.
