  1. 1997 Subaru legacy sedan 5 speed. When I slow down in parking lots, or any where, moving under 30mph Ish, there's a clicking noise coming from underneath the shifter is what it sounds like but definitely not the Trannys. Any clue?
  2. Just did a whole bunch of work on my 97 legacy under the hood so now she runs great! But looking for some ideas for cost effective suspension mods to help throw me around those corners:) cheap engine mod ideas are welcome too of course its an EJ25 DOHC 5speed
  3. I agree it definatley doesn't look like a subi.. but I think that in later years it will get more of a Subaru feel to it. It is only the first manufacturing year. I wanna see specs and reviews! I think I read some where there's gonna be an sti model? True or false?
  4. Ok well here's my set up right. Now ill look after school how close they match....... O o o O very poor diagram but all I can really give you since I'm on my phonelol. But if they match within a 1/4 inch I should be good like that?
  5. Ok ill look into those parts. I've also got another question. I'm not 100% confident on how "symmetrical" awd works... but I do know that I have 2 tires that don't match. But the matching sets are in opposite corners. Is that ok? I assume not but I might as well ask. They are the same size. Just unmatching tread paterns and set has a little more wear
  6. Ummm.. maybe that body style I'm not forsure. Ill have to try and catch a picture of it sometime and post it. It is a really cool car tho!
  7. So lately in Sioux city is I've been noticing something I've never seen or heard of before. There is a newer model Subaru Forrester driving around town. Its black with black 18's. Really cool car but it has an STI badge on it. I see this car alot but Im confused as to whether or not its real?? And what did subaru add to it that would classify it as an sti Forrester rather than I stock Forrester if it is real?
  8. Ok ill have to throw that on the list. Thank you. You know I used to be on a jeep forum because I was really big on jeeps. Had 2 grand Cherokees. V8 and inline 6. And you guys are ALOT more helpful than the jeep one lol. I've learned more as much about the 2.5L in three days than I learned about my 4.0L on all my years of having one lol
  9. And keep in mind I am I high school kid with a budget lol is water pump and intake gasket a neccesity?
  10. Lol Jensen imports my mom is the service manger. I still don't know what these plugs are. Elaborate I'm not extremely mechanically inclined this is my first project car
  11. Why no head head bolts? And what are the plugs you're talking about? And yes were pulling the engine I'm hiring an acquaintance that works at the Subaru dealership He is certified and gonna teach me as we go so I know my ins and outs of the motor.
  12. Ok so this is what my prices/parts are so far -timing belt $77.19 +tensioner $98.97 +valve cover gaskets $48.65 +cam seals $22.16 +head gaskets $65.94 +head bolts $88.36 +exhaust gasket $11.00 +spark plugs 8.85 each +clutch kit 182.89 +labor $250 ___________________________ $797.27 Ill remember to check the oil pan. Hows that sound am I missing anything? And these parts are all Subaru factory parts
  13. Ok so my worst fears are true. My new Subaru legacy needs a head gasket. And I'd like to know if there is any specific brand of head gasket that will be better than others or not
  14. You guys have been a HUGE HELP! Ok but now I'm curious cause I think someone on here said that I can use 2002 wrx struts. Can I put those struts in the back and not the front? And how much will it improve handling?
  15. And just out of curiosity, if I pull the motor how mechanically inclined would one have to be to change the head gasket? My local Subaru dealer ship priced me at 1800$ for the job so I was thinking about doing it my self. And I've heard of full metal gaskets? Is that worth looking into?
  16. Hi I have the exact same car only mines a manual and I'm also new to subarus. I've been told that the 2.5 is able to handle forced induction? And I've also heard that buying a header will give it a little more kick and improve sound alot. But I've also been really curious about performance chips? Are there any good ones on the market that don't cost an arm and a leg? [/code
  17. Sorry I didn't mean to double post. I did it from my phone and mt phones crazy. But yeah I figure on a lower amount boost but didn't know exactly thank-you!
  18. So I'm new to the website and new to even owning a Subaru. I bought a Subaru yesterday and it needs work, (water pump, rear struts.) After I get thing into running and driving condition I wanna do some work to it. Its a 97 Subaru legacy. Has 190k miles on it and its a 5 speed Manuel. I was just trying to get some help trying to decide where to get started on Modding it a little. I'm currently making plans for an after market clutch, I want o header( I keep hearing that "UEL" is the way to go, I want a Turbo but don't know which brand or how much boost I should run, and consider a short throw shifter and performance chip. But I dunno if that's where I should start. Lets hear some opinions
