  1. Just have to add my $0.02 here. Being a long time fan of Subaru's, 1980's models mostly, I have to agree. The new VW's are not the VW's of old, just like the Subaru's. I would take a 1986 DL Subaru and a 1963-1971 Beatle over any car these guys make today. They are reliable, good on gas and maintenance and repairs are relatively easy. I can get 10 of these for every one you buy new. Take care...
  2. I have found that sometimes a different letter of that sort is due to either a different factory of manufacture or a "revision" letter for the part. I just saw that with a fuel pump for my wife's car, I replaced a XXXXXXXac with a XXXXXXXaf. The "af" was the newest revision of that part, as the aa-ae were crap. I wouldn't worry...
  3. 144k in Miles. It seems to drive pretty well, but I would say that shifting can be a bit jerky also. This is the first Automatic Tranny Subaru I have ever owned. My Dad owned it before me a took real good care of it, but he did do alot of mountain driving and enjoyed shifting into a lower gear to gain power going uphill. If it is slippage, what is the part that would need replacing? I guess I could get a whole rebuilt tranny....but it works fine for now and has been this way for a few years, as I drove it occasionally when my Dad owned it. Thanks again for the help, I really appreciate it!
  4. I think he is using the wrong type of blinker fluid. This is a feature, not a problem! This undocumented feature allows you get away from bad guys while temporarily blinding them with washer fluid! 007 would be jealous! At least your front winsheild wipers don't randomly turn on like mine. You already have the solution to your "problem", don't drag race your Sube! I will be interested to see the "real" solution.
  5. Ok, I am a mere hobbyist mechanic, I like to know how things work and I like fixing them. My 1993 Legacy Wagon is slow to engage the transmission when starting from a stop. My question, could this be the kickdown solenoid, as I hear no click when the key is in the on position (engine off). Just hoping for an easy answer to this problem. Thanks!   6. My trutsy 93 Legacy SW is slow to engage the tranny, when starting from a stop, it takes awhile for the tranny to connect. Any ideas on what I am facing here? I am a bit of a novice, but like learning how to fix things on my own. Any help would be appreciated! Great site! Oh yes, this is an auto tranny.
