  1. I have a 97 legacy L wagon. Lifted 6 inches. First my air bag light came on, then my cruise control quit working and now my horn wont work. I do know Im not getting voltage to the horn when its pressed. I am thinking the airbag could be a worn out clockspring. The horn also. But, the Cruise control switch is after the spinning part of the colum so Im not sure about it. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 97 Legacy L 2.2 liter thats pdf? Help
  2. its a six inch SJR lift with outback struts
  3. Noise changed on thw way home from wop wop ( yeah, I know that joke) to a wop wop and a high pitched squeak. only in acceleration. Bout 90% sure its a wheel bearing
  4. I installed the six inch SJR lift and 215/75/r15 BF Goodrich all terrains. When I hit about 40mph I get a faint "wop wop wop wop" on the front right side.......like an axle. Only accelerating ( like an axle) not on downhill or coast Goes away at about 55mph. Alignemt shop didnt find any problems ( second time back) Any Ideas?- though about balance but that would wop wop at all speeds
  5. I need the rear bushings for the front control arm. Seems whiteline doesnt have them , or doesnt make them anymore. I can only find OES. Anybody know of a good brand other than whiteline? Thanks
  6. I was told at the local dealer that the 97 is electronic, not cable. Cable is easy. just change the gear size at the tranny. Very easy for a speedometer shop to do a cable recal-change out. looks like the yellow box will work, I just need to determine if I have a two wire or three wire system Box cost 100 dollars Speeding ticket going through small towns along the way to the mountains -350 dollars. (not to mention the insurance cost of a speeding ticket) Kinda like the mastercard commercial- knowing the speed your going-priceless I lifted my car to get further back on forrest service roads in the Eastern Sierra nevada Mountains. Lots of small towns ( Lone Pine, Independence,Big Pine, Bishop ) they like to drop the speed limit from 65 to 25 in town you better be doing 25 or the man will come knocking
  7. Put the air ducting back together and replaced/repaired the vacum hoses. gas milage has returned to just about normal. Now, trying to figure out if I can use one of those "yellow box" for speedo re-cal. http://www.yellr.com/
  8. I plan on having the speedo re-calibrated. But right now 60mph=70. odometer ( trip) reads 51 so Im figuring I went about 60 miles after compensation for the amount off, I used 1/4 of a tank in 60 miles. aprox 3 gallons. Thats twenty mpg, but it seems to bo doing worse.
  9. How much did your MPG's drop when you lifted? I went up 6 inches, went from 190/85/14 to 215/75/15. I knew the milage would drop, but Im only getting about half of what I was getting. But- my pvc hose is broken from the block to the air intake and my air intake box is just hanging at the fender, no longer connected to the tube coming up from the fender. Check engine light is on I know I gotta fix those but man, this thing is eating gas
  10. FINISHED THE INSTALL Still need to do the alignment. So far the only issue I had was the exhast pipe was hitting the rear axle . i test drove it and couldnt figure out the noise. took a few minutes to poke around , now all is well. Stock 97 Legacy L start by draining the radiator. remove the radiator hoses top and bottom. remove the two transmission cooling lines on the right side of the car. remove the air intake system , and remove the bolt holding the rubber strap from the firewall to the engine. remove the bolts holding the transmission shift cable (auto transmission) loosen all the lug nuts on all four tires while on the ground I then put the entire car up on four jackstands and then removed all four tires. I then started with the front. remove the steering linkage, being sure to mark the steering shaft top and bottom of its location on thee splined shafts remove the front stuts, place floor jack under crossmember then remove the bolts holding the crossmember, control arm and transmission crossmember and the driveshaft bearing lower the front end drivetrain install front lift blocks install the strut extensions to the top of the struts and then re-install the struts install the transmission crossmember flip the driveshaft bearing over and re-install ( Note: I had to add a two inch spacer to each bolt and buy longer bolts to drop this bearing holder down an additional 2 inches after flipping it over) Thats it for the front.........now for the back place the floor jack under the rear differential and lift the whole rear end remove struts remove the crossmeber bolts, the control arm bracket bolts, Install the rear lift I had to remove my rear sway bar because after the lift , I will need to make brackets to drop it down also I loosened up all the bolts and removed the brackets for the emergency brake lines and re-routed the emergency brake cables below the rear crossmemeber I zip tied the brake lines to the struts Here is a pic of where my tailpipe was hitting the axle right now my muffler is held up with bailing wire. going to the muffler shop right after the alignment shop Monday and the results before the trip to the tire shop with 14 inch street tires After installing 15 inch steelies and BF Goodrich 215/75/R15 TA Radials No rubbing anywhere, drives good. No road noise.
  11. Thanks. I will have to change out two bolts in the antilift. I put the black flat washers on the bolts holding the lift block for the rear differential. I must need to go back and change those out to lock washers.
  12. Yeah, new struts. And I have a lot of camber For radiator hoses I found 1.5 inch by 13.37 inch at autozone. They fit perfect
  13. Thanks Jackson I will take you up on that. Give me about a week and I will drive my Lifted leggy up there.
  14. Lift is installed ! Still need steering shaft extended Transmission cable needs a bracket to lower the cable connection point Make brackets for rear sway bar figure out how to re-connect air intake so that mass air folw sensor and vacum hoses are connected Alignment The tires and wheels Pics to come
  15. Looking Great !! How long did you extend the steering shaft? I have mine out and cut in half. I have tubing to make the sleve. How was your rear alignment........was a shop able to dail it in ? Mine has the lift installed and the tires are back on the ground. Steering and tranny shift cable bracket is all I need
