Thanks for all the replies! Is there a difference in the Sedan and Wagon shocks?

I would want to buy a pair of 4WD shocks/struts for back and front... all the way around. Mainly because I'm having a hard time finding cheaper ones specific to 2WD models. I read your article earlier, and was slightly confused. It's a great post, and pretty insightful. I was just confused by it a little. If I put 4WD shocks/struts on all the way around, will it raise the whole thing up 2" in back and front?

Alright, I'm having a hard time finding new shocks (I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for new ones, so I'm looking on RockAuto) and I can't find a complete set of Shocks and Struts for a decent price, and they don't have a lot to choose from in 2WD. So I was curious if a 4WD set, will work just find on a 2WD? I didn't know if everything is same size, and it would, but maybe the ride would just be a little more firm or what. Any insight would be great!

I don't know much about the Outbacks. It's an 05, with 160,000+ miles for $7000. It's a great looking car, the engine is clean and in very good condition, the inside is in good, but not perfect condition. Outside looks good, hasn't been in any wrecks. The dealership has had it for 4 months, and dropped the price from $8900 to $7000. Anyone have one around this year? What's your thoughts of it?

I bought a 92 Loyale last year, and as much as it's been a headache, I love the thing. It is the 3 Spd. Automatic, and the transmission is solid. I hate it, but it drives well, and isn't horrible on gas. I would keep an eye on the CV Shafts. I've had issues with mine, and needing to replace both. And keeps an eye on the wheel hubs if your shafts ever go bad. When I first got it, I replaced the distributor cap, plugs, wires, pads and shoes, as well as thermostat and coolant. Which is probably something I would recommend doing. The thermostat it had in it was stuck open, and it was a good thing I replaced it, because it started reading correctly afterwards. The car never over heats, and seems to have a good radiator in it. It's a good little car, I paid $400 for it, and have probably put that much or more into it, and it does the job.

I've had pretty spotty luck when trying to get parts for my 92 Loyale. Almost every place like Autozone, Advance, Napa, etc, will have parts, although when I get the parts in, they're typically the wrong part. Autozone has so far been the best place to get parts, although they always have to be ordered and wait a few days to get it. Right now I'm looking to get new shocks, and I don't want to spend a ton of money on them, but I want a solid pair of shocks. So I was just wondering if anyone knows of a place, or site, that will have almost anything someone needs when it comes to parts. I know it's harder to find older car parts, but there has to be one place or site, better than the next.

Haha, I don't know if I wanna spend that money on 5 cans But if you guys know of pics that show which vacuum lines to use, that would be great. I'm still not familiar enough with the car to know what is where.

It could be your hub going bad man. Pop that tire off and see if you can shake that rotor back and forth. If you can, and you know that CV shaft nut is tightened down as it should be, then your hub could be bad. That was my issue. The rotor was chattering back and forth because the hub couldn't keep the CV shaft nut tight.

Just posted this in another thread... I've had the same issue, so I'll give you a quick rundown. I have a 92 Loyale, it's just front wheel drive and automatic. I had to replace the front right CV shaft because it was all mangled from where the joints join at, so I did that, and all was good. Then all the sudden some slight clicking/chattering sound started coming from that front side, so I decided maybe the CV shaft just worked a little loose from driving, and I tightened it down again. Well, one night my girlfriend was driving it and she couldn't move all the sudden and the shaft was just free spinning in the hub. It turns out the hub was bad and had to be replaced. I guess it wasn't staying tight with the shaft and it was just worn out. The shaft and splines were still good though. What the chattering sound was, the CV shaft would loosen up, then my rotor on that side would be loose, and it was actually chattering back and forth, when I was going down the road. So, you may pop off that tire, and see if the CV shaft is a little loose, and if that front rotor is too. If so, it could possibly be the hub going bad. It cost me $300 to get it done at a shop... which was a very good price for something that turned into a headache.

What's the best way to use Seafoam in a Loyale? I often use it in my 94 Grand Am and suck it through a vacuum line, and rarely put it in the gas tank. The Loyale has 108,000 miles on it it's 2WD/AT if that matters. I don't know if it would be best to suck it through a vacuum line to clean out the top end a little bit, or just go ahead and use it in the gas tank. I know both will clean 2 different areas. And I also don't know what vacuum hose to use on the Loyale if I went that way. Any suggestions would be great.
