  1. Thanks to all the staff for making another awesome show, met some more absolutely awesome folks, and to everyone I already knew thanks for the wisdom and ideas for the year to come. A big thanks to Nate, Jeff, John, Hawk, and Tex.
  2. I met some of you guys at WCSS and would travel any distance to wheel with Jeff even if i had to drive back the same day. I'm surrounded by slammed tucked, and stanced subaru's everywhere down here and hate every moment of it, I grew up in upstate NY where nearly everyone owned a 4x4 and went to trails on the weekends, didn't matter what you owned you just went and enjoyed the day. The county reps would make it so much easier since i have no idea who wheels down by me other then erika carr in puyallup in her 83 wagon. Sure i don't have low range and will probably break something on a trail but that happens even to fully built rigs. I 've looked forward to driving up to Bellignham since i met Jeff last August and I will bring a lifted sti up there, to be around people that are like me, not completely all there but awesome just the same.
  3. the springs should be ordered by the end of the month april i should be getting the spacers, then the all terrain tires, won't make this one but will do everything in my power to get to you guys before too long, i need to know the capabilities of this thing once it's lifted. I could care less about speed. I love mud far too much to care about going fast.
  4. i drive an 06 sti that is going through a 8year build into rally/mud slinger, more mud slinger then rally but that is aminly because i drive where none of my friends drive. However the sti even though i don't drive like a mornon only gets 25mgp on hwy- i like the old subies cause they are so adaptable, and because power isn't everything- i learned 10 years worth of knowledge at wcss 14 from the old gen crowd- probably one of the best car experiences of my life. I start mechanics training classes in late sept for 2 years and would have no problem working on the car during that time i really just need it to run, so i can use it as a daily, just fix minor odds and ends - the sti should be paid off by dec- so i will certainly be looking all the way up to that point.

  5. looking for an old subi? might be able to help there

  6. for your scoobie question it all comes down to the owner, there is no wrong or right way to say or spell it, just like there is no real wrong way to build/fabricate/manufacture parts for your ride. race/rally/offroad/auto x/ rally x/ show/ the car is yours build, work-on, and drive the way you want to.
  7. What does this break down to roughly in millimeters 29/12.5/15r Goodyear TERRA GRIP'S, i only ask because all tire sizes i could put on atleast for the time being have to be able to fit 17's. I have to wait till I can afford a down grade of my brakes so I can then put on 15's once that happens I could get these exact tires no sweat. As far as new gens go I doubt there are alot of people looking but if there are, wrx u can fit almost anything on without lift maybe just a spacer at 1-1.5inch, or even bigger/taller springs from King collectively 2-3inches max. If there is anybody out there like me rocking an sti, according to the info I got today with the springs and spacers, 215 or 225/50-65 r 17 would in theory fit on the stock bbs rims, if I can make this functional and working i will post picks, at any rate it will probably be the tallest sti in washington without a massive lift. Will hopefully have springs and spacers on the car by oct.
  8. Splinter- By no means do i think any subie is bad, especially the new ones, I just wish took as much pride in their rides as the owners of the older models. So few of my friends do their own work on their car it comes to either myself or another member of our group, even for small items. The unique quality to the older rides is you could essentially do nearly anything and that makes it unique, most times you have to change things around just to make it more functional, the newer models I agree with Twitch 1000% ( oh god a piece of dirt hit my car! oh what will i ever do) most of the newer owners I run into feel that way. The good news is atleast they came and represented what they have, in the end it's a win for subaru even if their subtle differences are hard to spot. I actually prefer this type of venue if mixes and mashes multiple users and cars together instead of segregating everybody into specific categories, obviously for judging purposes their separated, but the night before one row had a this line up gen1, sx, 08sti, gc8, bugeye 02 wrx, 05' baja, 11 forester, 99 legacy. That was the best pic for a memory I will ever have everything great about subie in 1 shot.
  9. I'm Geoff Goings, been in the Subie community since mid 90's. I own an 06' Sti it's being built for Rally and Mud. It's painted flat black with white accents, if you were at WCSS you probably saw it in the mud pit or car show. Basic mods short ram by prodrive, Turbo xs top mount, 3in downpipe and exhaust by prodrive, cobb accessport. Live in lakewood after I left the Army after 8 great years. The car has begun the process of a 5-8year build, on the inside when complete it will resemble a Group N car from the 2004-2008 WRC cars used by Subaru. On the outside the possibilities are endless.
  10. i saw what u did with the wrx wagon and it gave me and my buddy tons of ideas for what to do with my 06 sti, im all rally/mud all the time, just use the street for work. Will probably ask your advice and alot of questions overtime, but seriously respect the amazing work you did with that ride, you are for maore talented then I.

  11. Hello everyone I am a bit new to these forums, so I'll come right out and say it the greatest attraction to the show for me was the old subies, that's right boys and girls, the ones you guys think nobody came and saw. I came to the show from lakewood with a group of about 13, altogether, we made a point of checking out the older models first mainly because as many of you had said, the lifted ones well they get dirty. Along with that myself and a buddy really looked at the engineering side of those rides, the unique approach to make something your own. Whether you know it or not you guys rocked the show, not many people drive what you all own anymore, so kudos for keeping them going. The newer model rides are boring primarily because i see them all the time and nobody wants to be different( the new phase is all about stance and how the car sits or looks with whacked out colors or how much power money can buy), all in all it gets away from making a car unique to it's owner and that makes it boring. I love rally, and I love mud, and most of the inspiration for my build comes from older subies, whether they be lifted or not. WCSS is really the only place a guy like me can take an 06 STI and sit it next to a Brat or a Gen 1, or 2 and have a conversation where each party understands the other and it's not watered down bs just about cars. I met people at WCSS i could never forget talked alot of cars and learned alot about subaru history that in my book is a win!
