  1. The truck looks like the command vehicle from "Universal Soldier".
  2. Some low-life sack of s__t took a concrete block and broke the driver window to get inside my '03 WRX. In doing so they beat the crap out of the top portion of the door. So my question is since paint is so hard to match should I fix the door or try to find a driver's door for a sonic yellow wagon? Like they grow on trees, right?
  3. The Chilton manual is a 300 page paperweight. No diagrams of the vacumn system other than emissions.
  4. Trying to figure out a vacumn problem with the climate control on a 92 Loyale. Where does the vacumn line go that enters the firewall on the Drivers side? I show 18 lbs on the other side of the canister on the passenger side so I'm going backwards until I find the problem. My guess is that the line goes to the selector switches for the climate control. The air will blow through the dash vents but no floor heat or defrost. I see that the A/C compressor runs on heat because the switch engages when the vacumn servo engages to run heat to the floor. That much I figured out. Has anybody had the climate control assembly with the pushbuttons go bad? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  5. Front end styling looks like classic Alfa Romeo design influence to me. Is the vehicle cool? Maybe, but with the price tag, I don't think they are going to fly out of the dealerships.
  6. I've got the same problem except my compressor still works fine. When I switch to other modes the air only blows out the main vents. The A/C compressor starts up even when I select heat. Checked vacumn and it seems OK. Maybe when you figure out what's wrong with yours, pass the info along so I can fix my problem.
  7. I hate buying new cars so I'm looking at a 96 Imp O/B to purchase. Car is real clean and has only 31K on it. Price is $5995, deal or not? Already have a 03' WRX wagon, but it's in the high 80's on mileage so I want something to lessen the load on the WRX.
  8. '03 wagon, 83K so far. Only problems are difficult shifting transmission going into 1st gear (dealer says that is normal). Gas gauge sometimes has the gremlins as the gauge goes to zero then goes back up for a few months. When it is very cold, below 30, there is a fuel odor. This should be a recall thing but sub thinks leaking fuel from a joint in cold weather is again, normal. Other than the few things listed, bone stock reliability with no mods to the car. However, I've been through 4 windshields and a foglight because of rock trucks. Oil seems to cause some engine noise if you use the suggested weight. I use Walmart brand full synthetic 10w30 whereas Mobil 1 5w30 and 10w30 both exhibited knocking at startup.
  9. Looking at getting a new vehicle since the WRX has 85K on it. Stopped at a dealership in Lewisville, TX to take a look. While I understand they have made some improvements, but 31K for a Legacy with a turbo or 33K for a turbo Outback? Try 34K for a STI or even 26K for a non-turbo Baja? Sure makes the Loyale I bought a few months ago with 34K on the odo seem like a deal considering the price might equal the sales tax on the Legacy. I was fairly loyal with Subaru, but if I can buy a '02 Infiniti Q45 for 27K with about 30K miles compared to a new Legacy, I'm out on Subaru in the future. Anybody else think Subaru is pricing themselves out of the market?
  10. How many miles? Let me guess and say just over 60K. Magically the light went on in my forester after 60K and my WRX at 62K. Only happens when I don't use brute force to secure the gas cap. The check engine light thing is a reason to get you into the dealer so they can relieve you of some funds to tell you the gas cap is not sealing properly.
  11. The bumper to bumper warranty is for 36K, the powertrain up to 60K. Of course, the dealer will do everything to avoid fixing the car like they did me on my '03 WRX wagon. I didn't get the warranty on my forester when I bought it in '01 nor did I get the warranty on the WRX wagon. Neither car went to the dealer other than a shift problem with the WRX which they said was normal. Not to pick on your choice of car, but 18.5K seems a bit much to pay for a basic forester with 6K on it. I don't know your situation, but you can find a '02 or '03 H6 VDC outback in the same price range with 20K miles. Besides the heated seats, you get the cool Macintosh audio system, 6 cylinders, leather, etc.. I liked the forester except for the constant creaking of the hatchback which no one could figure out.
  12. The transmission is auto, should have mentioned that. I plan on changing the fliud. Since the selector level moves when the transmission shifts, I thought the mounts could be bad causing the jump in the lever. I can pull on the alternator and see movement of the engine/trans..
  13. Hello to all. Just picked up a 92 loyale with 34K miles on it and have a question on the transmission. When driving it shifts hard and the selector will move. Is this a transmission/engine mount problem? Fluid could use a change as well. Any suggestions? I did a brief search but couldn't find an answer.
