  1. That is A killer ride! It has the louvers i'm looking for. I want A set for my hatch as well. Just like the ones on the white hatch in the picture I posted. I bet your friends car is really loaded with factory options. I have found that the "hardtop" cars that were made up to 1984 usually had A lot of optonal equipment installed on them. It has been my experience to find the hardtops rarer to be plain. The only plain one I have seen is on this website forsale.http://http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=137614
  2. I'm trying to ad links or pictures of the louvers but having no luck. I am not very computer savvy. I will try it again:
  3. They were always called louvers when me and my friends talked about them. It was A popular accessory in the 80's. The white hatchback has exactly what I am referring to. They are black and cover the back window.http://http://www.indysworld.com/80s/general/literature/brochures/1985-b.jpg
  4. Topic being Rarest part, how about rear window louvers for 80-84 hardtop, 80-89 hatchback, and 1980-84 wagons. I have been looking since I have owned my cars. A set for the coupe and the hatchback. Were o were could they be !
  5. Hey guys, great information. Thanks for jumping in. What is the proper way to test A MAS ?
  6. Hey Dan that sounds good to me because I already have two sets off of A brat. I know that the ones I have are the same for my hatch, thats why I have them. I was wondering if the set on the wagon are the same, or are they for EA81 wagons only? If they are all the same I probably already have A extra set that I could sell you.
  7. Hey wounded brat, Did your brat come with manual steering? And were did you drill the holes? Was it in A area of high stress on the crossmember? I just wonder if you put A power steering crossmember next to A manual steering crossmember what would be difference between the two?
  8. Hey that sounds like information to put in my book. I'm copying suggestions off using my printer and putting the suggestions in A binder for quick reference that way it will be easier. There is towing business about 5 miles from here that has A 1994 impreza that they drug-in that had been abandoned and the state had them to remove it. They had no keys so they don't know if it runs. Anyway, they said I could have it for $300, and it has A 2.2l/ automatic. Is the wiring the only thing of benefit or could I use other things?
  9. I would go with the B.F. Goodrich if I had the money. When I get my lift under my hatch, I hope I have the money for BFG's. No more than the car weighs (2000lb.) they should last forever. As far as how good they are, take A look at all of the trophy trucks and Baja buggies. They torcher them to a grueling end and still go buy more. If I am budgeted when my lift goes on, and I probably will be, I am going to use firestone winterforces. I beleive the grip would be unreal. They don't usually cost more than $70 each in 14's or 15's 27" tall.
  10. I'm going crazy:confused:Does anybody want to go with me? I got A code 34 EGR valve. I don't know if A EGR valve would make it have no power on top end. It wouldn't do 55 mph if I pushed it over A clift. I won't give up, i'll keep on trying stuff until its figured out. HELP ME!
  11. I sure hope it tells me something ! I'm going to check it right now. Be back in A little while to give the results. Thanks again.
  12. Man you have been thru h@ll ! It reminds me of me ! I read all of the post. Ya'll were talking about A computer self diognostic mode, or something like that. It obviously gives other codes by putting it in this mode. Is it in the wires around the brake booster? I noticed other connectors along with the green timing connectors. Am I making sense, do you know the ones I'm talking about? I there A self test mode the car can do , that I am not aware of?
  13. Ain't nutin rong widt dat! I have A1985 hatchback and I am tired of the original steering wheel. I would be really happy with A early 80's four spoke. They must be rare , because I never see one for sale... Blue , if anyone has A mint condition one !
  14. Oh yeah, thats A awesome wheel! I wonder who makes an adapter to put an aftermarket steering wheel on 80's subaru's. I have A LECARRA I would love to bolt on. I bought it A long time back for A 1990 Chevrolet 454 SS truck. I like the stock wheel in the truck so I have A $200 LECARRA laying around. I would love to have it in my 1985 Hatchback.
  15. I hear ya, I bet that Brat will move on down the road. It seems as though you get my "reasoning". If A bone stock 2.2l is going to satisfy my needs, then that is great. Regardless of miliage I'm still going to freshen the motor up and add some changes that will only make it better. The kind of things that the factory should have done but didn't. I want to apply 23yrs of technology to the build. Even if its simply better new parts.
  16. I pulled all of the plugs and they all were running lean...
  17. Hey AKghandi, Are you saying that your fuel injector clicked like crazy and you replaced the mass air sensor and it no longer makes any noise? Also, why did you replace it to begin with? How was the motor running before you replaced the MAS and how did it run after?
  18. You mentioned the fuel injector, and in the next sentence you said it was noisy and sputtered at idle. Were you talking about the injector or the car in general. The reason I ask is because there is A sound, with the motor running that sounds like A selenoid just hammering away. It is coming from the throttle body area. Could this be the sign of A failing injector?
  19. I am trying to build the most power to A naturally aspirated 2.2l. This engine will be in my daily driver. Living in the Appalacian mountains, its going to be off-road A lot. If I can't get the power I need, I will definatly go forced induction. That would be at another level of engine that would need to be built to complement to turbo.
  20. I have checked the timing over and over. I even bought A new light to check with. I set the timing to 20 degrees, with the green wires attached. I unplugged the wires and checked the advance, and it advanced properly. Is there A way to bench test A MAS?
  21. The reason for the 2.2l is dependability and ease of conversion. I didn't know that A 3.3l would fit in A 1985 hatchback. I am A firm beleiver of "no replacment for displacment". I have three, 2.2l and have no money invested in them. Any money I spend on the one I use is all i'll have invested, so I figure make the best from what i've got. Then hopefully I will have A SOHC 2.5L to play with some day.
  22. Yes, I think it is ported vacuum. I used A vacuum port on the front of the throttlebody that is A timed port, and put A long peice of vacuum hose to plug it into the fuel pressure regulator. The vacuum port it is supposed to be connected to, (the one in question) would not produce any vacuum from idle all the way to redline. I tested one of the ports that are directly into the intake and got a 20lb reading.:-\
  23. Hey, that sounds good. I know that I would like to have lower gears, that makes all the difference in the world. I have A 1999 2.5 RS, that just turned 50K miles and I can't even imagine what my 85 hatchback is going to be with A 2.2l. I'll have to look under the RS to see what gear it has. Also, look at the weight. that rating should be in the door. I know my hatch weighs exactly 2000lbs with A full tank of gas. I know it will weigh more than that when I'm finished with my mods, I'm just trying to compare. WOW, my hatch would be something with the 2.5l in it and its not turbo'd.
