  1. I've been looking into getting a second(newer) wagon to replace my GL as a daily driver, and recently came across a 92 legacy with a blown head gasket. http://chico.craigslist.org/cto/4201575099.html this is all the info I have, what should I ask? Im pretty mechanically inclined, and have tackled a head gasket on a honda before, with success.  All help is much appreciated.

  2. So I'm hell bent on putting power steering in my 82 GL wagon, and thanks to another user, I'll be receiving the power steering components off an EA-82. I understand the cross member will get in the way so I have a few questions regarding the whole project.

Should I notch out the existing cross member or modify an EA-82 cross member?

Will I need to make custom lines?

Will I need to replace any pulleys or just belts?

What do I need to do with the tierod ends?

Is the steering shaft the right length for the EA-82 rack?

And most important, has anyone done this?

  3. Subarus and Hondas, good choice in cars. :D

You picked a good one to start with.

We are on other ends of the spectrum, I have had many Subarus and lots of experience with these old ones. But I'm somewhat new to Hondas.

    Enjoy it!

I will, and hey, Ill trade you honda info any day for some help on my Subaru!

  4. Not that it will cure any carb probs you are having but I may have a GL badge for ya. I work the next couple days but I may have time to rummage in the garage a bit on sunday. If I can find one, I'll mail it to ya.

    That would be awesome!!!:D

  5. also, if all else fails, or you get tired of the car for any reason let me know, I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands.

Thats funny! No, I have been wanting a second car that can go where the other can't. And its Japanese, major plus when it comes to cars.

  6. Sounds like a good candidate for a can of Seafoam!

Smoke the neighbors out of their houses and probably restore your performance along the way. It's great for gunked up stuff that's been sitting for a while.

Typical 1/2 in the crank case, 1/2 in the tank?

  7. Traditionally deiseling refers to continuing to run after the key is shut off. Could be out of time or needing a the carburator rebuilt/replaced.

Thats exactly what I mean, except I have no key, just toggles and a button. My guess is simply bad gas because when I went to pick it up, it started right up with no new gas, shut it off, dieseled for 5min before i forced it to stop. Now, after a few gallons of gas added on top, it only goes for a few seconds and stops.

BTW, the term dieseling comes from the fact that it runs like a diesel motor, i.e. ignition with no spark.

  8. where is durham? and definetly get the rear hatch emblem that says "subaru gl" on the hatch, hatch wind deflector, and a roof rack. looks great from what i can tell and it even has the third eye:clap:(have you tried it out yet?) i just got a 83 turbo wagon my self for free:banana:

Yes, love that little thing, its great. Durham is in nor-cal, and where is a good place for emblems?

  9. So I just got this little beauty for free from a family friend, and have no clue what to do next.

It's an 82 gl wagon that runs, and i was able to drive it home, the first thing i want to address is the

fact that it diesels. I'm a total n00b when it comes to subaru, only ever worked

on fords and hondas. Help me :( .
