  1. Had a blast. Thank God my kids only got lost once.

And by the way, I WON BEST LEGACY!!!!!!!!

We left the campsite at about 2 pm today after Kelly got finished swapping in a random Subaru radiator into the Forester whos radiator blew while doing donuts in the gravel lot

. Only Q-man was left attempting to get their RV started. Bad mojo or sumptin.... Damn battery and starter was giving them fits.

    We will be back again....

  2. One chapter is currently uploaded for viewing. It is the piston pulling video previously posted. It is for a 2.2 motor, but it is relevant for all Subaru motors.

I am not a vendor. I am not doing this for money but I do need compensation if you want one. All these chapters are/will be free for download when they are uploaded. I don't care if you copy or host.

I have created a DVD of the basics of engine rebuild, which includes 7 sections.

1- tools need to pull pistons (I assume you have actually pulled the engine and removed heads.

2- shows where the access plates to wrist pins are

3- shows access holes to the wrist pins open

4- shows piston removal of two pistons

5- shows how to install rings

6- shows how to compress rings

7- shows how to install pistons

8- how to install a clutch

9- how to install a timing belt (if I get enough call for it)

But if you want the DVD, I want $7.50 to cover my time and material. Feel free to copy and distribute. Email or private message me.

  3. I am adding a clutch install video and IF I GET 15 people to SAY they want it (just want it, not buy it), I will tear off and reinstall a timing belt. To those who have already responded, you will get this as well.

These two chapters are in addition the basic engine rebuild DVD I have already offered. The DVD is available now (since they are burning a whopping 2 a day) but the files via the internet will be available as soon as I a- get the files converted, b-get them uploaded on a setup faster than my 56k, and c- Get them transferred over to Josh at legacycentral.org

  5. Yeah sure the pressure increases in the smaller diameter pipe. But thats not where you measure PSI. You measure that in the manifold. And if less air gets to the manifold because of a smaller diameter pipe, then you have lower psi.

  6. It went from the 12 psi to the 6 psi because of a few reasons, one being the intercooler.

Without the intercooler, I had a beautiful 2.75" diameter pipe straight from the SC to the throttle body. Not a single sharp bend OR reduction in pipe diameter. Pretty much as close as you could get to a direct connection from the SC to the Throttle body so there was little, if any, restrictions for the air flow to come in contact with.

Now when I installed the IC, I had to cut the piping, bend it down AND constrict it from the 2.75 diameter to the 1.75-2" diameter of the IC. And then of course there is the IC itself. I don't care how well the IC flows, if you constrict a large pipe to a small pipe, you are going to lose some pressure.

I was able to get the pressure back up to about 8-9 consistantly in the end by fabricated a much nicer connnection from the SC to the IC using the stock Mercedes part and some nicer piping, as well as installing a gasket between the SC and the SC exhaust port.

The IC I am using is the stock 90-94 Legacy AWIC.

  7. pulley ratio to psi depends upon two major factors. First is what size is the engine, second is what SC you are using. The m45 is .75 liter per revolution, the m62 is 1 liter per revolution, the m90 is 1.5 liter per revolution, and the m112 is 2liter I think.

Also of psi importance is the intercooler. I ran 12 psi without an intercooler. As soon as I installed the IC, psi dropped to 6 psi!

As it stands, I am (was) getting about 8-9 psi on a 2.2 engine, running a 2-1 pulley ration, using an M62, with a Subaru AWIC.
