  1. Looking good! I managed about 150 whp @ 8? psi and about 190ish @ 12 psi.
  2. Dudes, you dogging on me? STILL using the 1990 NA ECU with the PP6..... I was only able to make 400whp with it, 12.8 @ 112 with NO third gear... . Greed is what generally kills my motors. Sometimes stupidity, sometimes just plain bad luck. Split a cylinder wall on the last motor, how does one get that done? So waiting on some built heads from Delta before the new motor goes in. This is what it last looked like.
  3. I bought a legacy whose clutch was so bad you could start it in gear if desired. ie, it was gone! I suspect that if you do the job yourself, your will find, and if others do the job, they will find, LOTS AND LOTS of fluffy stuff, black stuff, and various other shot clutch stuff. . But it does nothing to affect the rest of the vehicle. But....... I would replace your tranny fluid. Its old, and because your clutch has been slipping so long, you have put undue wear upon it.
  4. I have only blown one tranny due to racing. The first went out when I simply mishifted into 2nd at 6500 rpm..... The second time I suspect a tooth that didnt get cleaned out the 1st time finally made its way into the gearing as I was shifting OUT of 4th, when third gear got eaten up. This last time 1st gear was sheared due to a 550 ftlb preassure plate that has an on/off feel. With hundreds of drag runs, I don't feel its that weak at all. It almost all comes down to driving style.
  5. Personally I always (except for the very first time I did one head) pull the motor. That way EVERYTHING is kosher.
  6. Never updated this from the last era..... Reinstalled a 2.5 low compression motor.... 320-340 whp with close to 380-400 torque. 12.5 @ 112 mph Then lost the transmission (3rd gear) Fixed the tranny, #1 piston went out the next day. Built a whole new motor with 100mm Mahle pistons, did a 13.1 @ 105 at only 14 psi untuned.!!!!!!!!!!! Then ate 1st gear last run of the year at PIR. Awaiting another tranny rebuild.... Here are some pictures.
  7. I was out there today and had a great time! My two brothers and myself ran our 1990 sedan stock everything except for WRX struts and springs, brakes and 16" rims with CRAPPY tires. I was 2nd one out in the 2nd group and of course suffered the WET SLICK CRAP and got a 2:36! Then the next run I got a 1:45. Had I not been in Time Only, I would have been pissed......... The last run I got a ? with 6 cones, I ended up going wide and just went for the big drifts on all the corners. My two brothers also had a blast. My youngest brother popped the bead on his last run and we barely got the tire back on the rim for the LAST run of the morning and my middle brother got a 1:44 clean. It was awesome to be out there with my brothers, as the youngest one is moving to Hawie and this was the last real family time we will have for a few years. As for the Legacy, it is getting a built 2.2 turbo with DOHC heads, and either the Supercharger treatment, or turbocharger, or both........ Oh yeah, and some tires.
  8. I have had to rebuild my tranny twice.... First was a really really really bad misshift from 1st to 2nd at 6500 rpm. Basically didnt get it fully engaged when I fully engaged 220 foot pound of tourqu. My fault. Second time was shifting out of 4th, and lost third. All I can figure is that a loos piece of tranny tooth from the first incident finally got sucked up and into the geartrain. I was NOT racing when this happened. It was simply - Accellarate - shift out of 4th - Bang , lose 3rd...... whacky....
  9. Remember its ALL (99%) in the tuning until you get stupid. I made about 320 WHEEL hp on the open deck 2.2 with stock turbo pistons and was running high 12's @ 105-108 with the stock NA 5mt. When I swapped over motors I was running 12.5 @ 112 mph with a slipping clutch. I am shooting for mid 11's with the NA 5mt (obviously using an upgraded clutch) with the latest motor build.
  10. Hey now! EVERY one was succesful! It worked didn't it? Every motor was usually lost when I decided to run WAY TOO MUCH NITROUS through it without EM. And then I got EM and proceeded to run even more nitrous through. haha Boost is boost. You tune for it or blow a piston. And when you boost NA motors, you pop pistons fast if you are greedy. Sko, I will reply with a though out message soon. Doug
  11. Thats my wagon pictured a long time ago. Currently it basically looks like this. Under the hood it looks like this.... Twin charged! GT30R feeding the Eaton M62.... 30 psi by 3750 rpm! Without the turbocharger, I never did make it over the 200 whp mark. I might be able to on the next motor I am building for another project car though.... The wagons life/blog is stored here, a kinda long read. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=605625
  12. Lets get you supercharged Australians on a dyno or 1/4 mile! My ej22 supercharged alone did a best of 14.3 @ 94...... Now its twin charged going 12.5 @ 112 mph with slipping clutch.....
  13. Took it to the track last week. 11 runs (the bad run was the 11th) Check out how much MPH I gained in the upper 1/8th! I was spinning HARD off the line, lots of moisure. and the unhappy piston from run 11
  14. Yeah, they are. stock are 270, ejtt2 are 370, the 2.0 is 440. STI 550s fit, as well as NISMO srd20 injectors..... You need to find the right fuel rails to fit certain injectors. Search http://bbs.legacycentral.org for more info.
  15. The tranny is a stock 1990 legacy tranny, with 6 puck disk, forester flywheel and RS pressure plate. The SC is an Eaton M62 from a Mercedes.
  16. Basically its a Garrett gt30 feeding an eaton m62 for 23 psi! This was untuned, lean, without the meth injection, external wastegate, 3" downpipe..... I dynoed it with only about 1 week running! Wheeeeeeee!
  17. Buy a Kennedy 6 puck disk for $99 and use an RS pressure plate and you will be good for about 220 whp. I am using a 1990 5 speed, pull type, Forester flywheel, 6 puck disk, 02 RS pressure plate and NEVER had a problem and have gotten 13.5 times and 50 or so 1.8-1.9 60' times.
  18. Hey kids. douglas vincent here..... Yeah, I have had problems with detonation. but my biggest problem was greed! Kept having to have more and more power at the drag strip. Managed a best of a 13.5 at about 100 mph. Not bad for a engine that started at a best of 16.6 @ 79mph! But I blew up that engine last week with a tad too much nitrous and 12 psi of boost..... But my new motor just went in. 7.8-1 compression or so, DOHC heads, high flow manifold, pretty much the ghetto works. But no supercharger for the show. Just don't have time to fab up the new mounting bracketry. Damn. See you at WCSS8!
  19. 400-500 hp plus reliability? Stick with the 472 Caddy Engine!!!!!!! seriously. I see alot of those 400-500 whp Subarus, I also see them broken. To get 400-500 whp you need 25 plus pounds of boost. First, supercharger will never ever boost that much. Second, you sound like you need something that goes and goes. Ever seen the glow of a 500 hp turbo? It lites ************ on fire! I love my supercharger, but I know its limitations. About 300 whp.......
  20. Just do a boost adder with EM, and add 50-=100 whp,,,,,,
