  4. I posted a reply at the end ..... Crap ! hopefully someone can help me ..... I just recently bought a '90 loyale EA82 5-sd push button 4-wd 262,000 K I had asked a few questions a week or so ago about codes and such anyway about two or three weeks ago i went to start the car and it was dead i assumed it was the battery pulled it charged it still didn't work ? tried a different battery still didn't work after about four battery switches and alot of cursing the original battery worked ! and has worked fine ever since ....... until now ..... drove to work fine went to go home .... dead ...... got a jump no problem ran fine now the only thing i left on was the rear defrost {shouldn't matter?} but now it's doing the same thing again won't start with any battery {which i KNOW work} but now the difference .... before the clear memory connector was hooked up so no codes were saved after i fixed that i had no 'check engine' light for about a week when i got jumped tonight the light came on right away when i got home and had it running i could plug in the green connector {idle adjust?} light would go out unplug it it would come back on also when i put in the battery from my other car i could see a small spark somewhere near the battery area {dark and by myself, can't be in two places at once} but still no start didn't even try to turn over clock comes on, then move the key to 'on' everything dies {even with the working battery from the other car} does anyone have any ideas or suggestions of things i could try ?? i know how to use a voltmeter and can work a wrench i'm not an expert in either trade, but i can get around ok PLEASE !! any suggestions would be great ! Thanks in advance !! Kyle
  5. cool no problems with having had the timming adjustment connector plugged in ?? or just crappy mileage ??
  6. Hello again first thanks to everyone who gave me information on finding my codes now as an update {can i flap or what!} i was trying to get my codes again and looking under the hood and dash for all the connectors and i noticed the green timming connector AND the clear memory connector were BOTH plugged in i've unplugged them and the check engine light hasn't come on yet Only about 20 Klicks of driving yet though ...... now after all that ..... is there anything detrimental i should look for that may have been caused by those two plugs being plugged in ?? i'm gonna drive it a bit more and check for codes again but i'm just wondering if i should be expecting other things thanks again you guys{and girls} you've helped me alot and more in the future i'm sure !!
  7. i'm no help but i'm in the same boat ! hoping someone can explain the color scheme or visuals or something sorry :{
  8. another question regarding codes i've read the link i was given thank you i'm still having some trouble figuring out which connector is for which action the instruction just say to hook them up the haynes manual shows pictures of themm but under the dash there are three or four that look almost the same anyone know the color scheme or anything ?? any help would be great !!!
  9. Hmmmm the Manual implies theres two under the dash and two under the hood not sure if i was hooking up the wrong ones ? maybe the book is wrong ?
  10. yup i was in the right place under the dash i tried to follow the code retreval directions in the haynes manual {standard purchase with every car i buy} all i got was the code for year and model or something like that maybe i didn't do the correct connectors ......
  11. thanks ! to answer you its push button {on the stick} i don't have a clue about the timing belts the other belts look great but ...... and the computer only seems to give me '1990 Loyale' as a code nothing else ever seems to show up am i doing something wrong ?
  12. Or is the CV 'click' the wheel bearing maybe ?? seems to get louder with weight in the back hope someone can help !!
  13. Hello ! This site is great ! seen lots of things that will be good to know when i have time to start doing work on my new sube but first i have some questions i hope someone can answer for me here goes ....... i recently bought a '90 Loyale Wagon - 4WD - 5-Speed - 260,000 Km {High Klicks, But Really good price} when i got it i could hear a CV 'click' from the rear drivers side i took it in to get that fixed and was told the drive shaft was way worse and had to be done instead ok, fine still has the rear CV 'click' now, my first question is: Does the rear drive-line always spin ? or should turning off the 4WD stop all activity back there ? some times it feels like i'm always driving in 4WD {but i'm new to standard, so i'm not sure if it's just my driving} and to go with that question: Is it difficult to do the CV myself ? {or my cheap backyard mechanic friend} and is it that ? or am i barking up the wrong tree ?? OK next question : i also have the 'check engine' light come on alot sometimes in the driveway, sometimes i drive drive for awhile before it shows up i've been told by my sube friends that its probably the o2 Sensor that sound correct ?? OK, last one : {for now} i've noticed in the last few days when i park in my driveway {sloped} i get a leak not sure if it's engine oil or tranny oil ..... doesn't seem to show up if i park in a flat place bad seal ?? and if so how hard is that ?? any other thought or suggestions would be great !!! other than these few problems i'm really enjoying my first Subaru {and standard!} what a great little car !!!! thanks alot in advance
