  1. ok so i dug around a little last night seemed better after i put it all back together ran fine this morning, for about 25 minutes ..... than started to do the exact same thing :{ so i think i'm going to do the pump but the napa part number for the ford pump napa here {canada} says thats not there part number but that the 'p' code is a carter part number i phone around .... 200 bucks !!!! i think i'll just get a used one from JY but as i'm totally broke rump roast i don't know when that will be :{ i'll dig around a little more tonight and see if i can find anything else might an o2 sensor cause something like this ??

  3. that sounds like it may be something that he will have to look into 'stuttering' is exactly how it feels
  4. my owner hasn't looked yet today when he put in back in last time it seemed to fit pretty good i'll have him check again after he gets off work would that account for my smell ?

I'm SPFI and have a new fuel filter and most of a tune up plugs, cap, rotor, wires, timing belt my owner still has yet to do my tranny oil :| soon though i hope ! i also seem to make a different noise. almost like one of my cylinders isn't firing but i'm not sure and when my owner opened my hood the funny smell was not there but it was still in my cabin does this help at all ??

Since my owner is busy i've decided to ask this question myself my owner asked before about a 'cutout' kind of feel to me and others said to check the fuel pump connection it was loose {not me ! just the pump} and seemed to get better for a while but i do seem to have problems with the same thing or something similar ..... when i was being driven to work this morning i had a very bad 'cutout' feel and than i had a bad smell .... kind of a burnt kind of smell or a hot kind of smell it wasn't there before the cutout and it seemed my owner could make it better if he let off the gas, than gave me gas a little slower.... does this make any sense ??? i want to drive good !! i want to make my owner happy !!! please help !!
  7. well the conector on the fuel pump was definetly loose don't know how long it'll hold together but i connected a good as i could i'll have to see in the next few days how it's going to be .... also how do i post a picture ? i took a picture of my connectors under my dash {i was trying to pull codes} all i got was 'make and model' but i'm unsure which connectors are truly which and exactly which ones should be hooked up when all the combinations i tried gave me 'make and model' and that was all if i can get the picture up maybe someone can give me exact details ..... i've looked at alot of the pulling codes threads and they say things like "test-mode connector" clear memory connector and such but what are the colors ? are they the same on every car ? i heard from here somewhere that some of the stuff is the same on every car and some the wires and such are different colors from car to car how much of that is important ?
  8. ok so out of curiosity i phoned NAPA here to see how much that fuel pump was the dude told me "you must have gotten that number off the 'internet'" not one of our part numbers so now what ?? it must be hes just on glue or something !
  9. no check engine light at all VERY occasionally it will ide really poorly {read: rev up and down a whole bunch} and the light will come on but go away after it clears up about 20 seconds only done that about 3 times since i've owned it i never remember to get the code {it goes away and i forget} but no light at all when it does the gas-nogas thing I hope your fuel pump write-up gets on soon !!! 50 bucks (90 canadian) is much better than 100 used or 300+ new :{ you could email your write-up to me if you'de like :} reedk@camosun.bc.ca thanks alot people !!!
  10. it is {EA-82} and it does {have fuel injection} does that sound like a possibility to anyone ? and how would i look into that ? and i'm going to get under the car and look at the fuel pump tonight ...... than i may have to find a cheap still good second hand pump ..... to expensive new :{
  11. well all the wires/connectors i could find seemed fine i still have to get under the car and look at the fuel pump i forgot to mention this .... the revs don't change as all of this stuff happens doesn't drop or raise just the gas/nongas feeling does that still point towards the pump ??

  13. ok now i'm kinda stumped my '90 loyale has been acting a little weird the last few days {well, since i got it really. just more so now} it started with.... i'de be driving along and it was like i took my foot off the gas without doing anything then a few seconds later it would come back like i put my foot back on the gas yet i didn't move my foot at all {maybe more gas if anything} now, in the last few days it has started to be like that every time i leave a stop light or anything but more like on-off-on-off-on-off for about 30 seconds than it would get better it gets better as the day and the car get warmer but first thing in the morning i could walk faster than i can get the car to go !! i thought it may be the clutch slipping i looked up all the cluth testing and setting threads on the site {lots of help !} did all of that stuff and the clutch passed with flying colors ! everyone else i have talked to about it says it sounds fuel related since you guys are the people in the know for Subes any ideas ? anything i could try to see if it is the fuel ? anything else i should be looking into ?? ANY help i could get would be great !!!! i want to take it camping at china beach in three days !! :{ thank you !!

Thought it was a goner , but the tick came back :{ Crap !!!! just did my oil seal pump last weekend and this weekend the tick came back at full force !!! does that mean i'm gonna have to look at a new pump ?? and another question ....... what does a slipping clutch feel like ?? this is my first standard and it feels kinda like it slips or skips or something but only when you give it alot of gas or try to punch it up hill or something seems worse in the morning better after the car has warmed up or something any ideas ?? thanks in advance !!!!

Well thank you everyone for your input turns out i had set the timing to about 28 degrees btdc and that was almost dead centre on the distributor i can't believe it even ran all the way to one end like it was {was around something like 40 or more??} seems better now still not the same as before i did all this but we'll see when i drive it around some more so now i set it to 20 degrees BTDC i hope thats right thats what i found in my Subaru owners manual now if i go a degree or two either way what difference will that make ? which way is more pep ? if any is possible ? i don't need more power just would like a little more pep i'm happy with it as it is if i can't get more {it goes thats a start !} thanks again for your input
  16. thanks for the input i'll do my ignition timing tonight or tomorrow and touch base again to ask more questions if need be 30 degrees !?! i hope someone just messed it up before and i can make it work without tearing it apart ....... would it even run that far out ?

I plan to use the light as soon as i get a chance but considering where it was when i started, anything is better i will touch base when i get the ignition timing done i just thought it was weird that the distributor was ALL the way to one end seemed fishy .... also: does anyone knoe how many degrees the distributor will go ? from dead centre to one end is how many degrees ?
  18. hey you guys always seem to have the answers i need, so here goes ! my friend and i changed my oil pump seals {no more tick !} and timing belts {'cause we were in there} and we noticed while putting on the belts the timing hole on the drivers side had a white mark on it and the tooth right beside it {to the left} also had a mark on it we had a really hard time getting the drivers side to stay lined up as we were tightening the tensioner pulley is this normal ? also we noticed whom ever had worked on the car before had adjusted the ignition timing all the way to one side {clockwise as far as it would go} after we did the belts it would ping under load i arbitrarily put the distributor close to the middle and the ping seemed to go away but it does seem a little rough .... now do you think this is my ignition timing that needs to be corrected ? {will do in the next few days} or do you think that we missed a tooth when doing the belts ? it seemed to run smoother before just really ticky now it doesn't tick but ...... any help or suggestions would be great !!!! thanks !

  20. slightly off topic ....... whats the part numbers at crappy ? i was looking to get a rear one for my '90 loyale and was told you couldn't get it :{ the back is a different one from the front yes ??

I Love the photos and the vids is there any way, that the next time you guys get together, that me and Mr. Hat (the lawnmower-'90 loyale) and my friend with an XT & Loyale, come out and check out your machines ? all we've got is total stock but i love to look at all the hopped up rigs and it would be cool to meet some local yokels that have got the smarts and answers for some of our questions email me if some kind of gathering could be set-up some time bubonik@post.com cool and thanks Love the shots ! and sooke is so nice .....
  22. does your handle work ? i found my handle doesn't 'return' when pulled to open the door {broken spring?} then it won't lock if you bring it back down by hand it works fine i know of a couple of subes that do that
  23. cool thanks i'm starting to find around 3500 seems to feel good .....
  24. i'm sure the oil pump seal is going i just don't have the money to do it right now but would the oil filter really cause that much of a difference ? it's a high milage filter id'e of thought that would be better on the other hand its supossed to filter out more junk so maybe its slowing down the whole system ??
  25. hello i hope someone can give some insight into this..... Bought my car about two months ago '90 loyale wagon 5sp push button 4wd 262,000 K I just changed my oil {about an hour ago} used high mileage oil and filter added that 'valve medic' stuff {the TIC was driving me crazy !!} seemed to work great !!! prolly only for a little while, but thats better than nothing ! only problem i noticed my oil pressure isn't as high as it was before ? any ideas ? should i be concerned ? it's still not bad just not as high as it was was around 3 now around 2 or a bit more goes up a bit when you rev it real high but with normal driving it now seem lower heres to hoping i'm just over reacting !!
