  1. I used the rubber grommet found on the drivers side firewall, right near the brake pedal. It is about 2 inches round. I just poked a small hole in the center and ran my wire. When I was happy with it, I applied some silicone around the area.

You should see the gromet from under the hood. It is usually easier to get to under there.

Sweet, thanks. Would i be better off getting under the car to get to this, or its easier from the top? Thanks

Also, did you have to cut away some of the black padding/fireproof stuff that is under the carpet to see the grommet?

  2. That would be one bridge crossing for you (Richmond Bridge). What is the issue you are having with yoru GT? Come see us at the meet on the 15th and perhaps we can also help you there. The meet I speak of is at the Barnes & Noble in El Cerrito Plaza (Take San Pablo Ave north, it will be on your right) at 10 AM.

We should put the times/location up in the meet an greet section of the forum. Unless you already did, I have not checked recently.

  3. I appreciate all the responses. You guys are the best. I am pretty decent at doing the install and running wires and all that. My biggest issue is getting positive power from the engine bay to cabin, but now I see that can be done from the glove box.

Do I have to remove the glove box? What do I have to move aside to see the gormet?

Thanks all you guys, I will have a kick system now....hopefuly. :)

  4. Alright guys, It's time to do the sound in my suby. I want to Amp my speaker, so I need some power to my Amp. Where and how do i get a wire from my battery to the amp. I can do most of the stuff, but where would be the best place to go from inside the the car to the engine compartment.

In the left side of the car, there are some fuel lines, i think, shouldI stay away from that. Because I was thinking of running it somewhere around there.

What have you guys done, what works, what does not work? Any ideas suggestions of pictures would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Avish

  5. I checked subaruparts..cheapest is $198 and I'm not sure that even comes with wiring and switch/fuse..the hella 500 series is only $78 with everything but I don't think it will fit the 03 leg darnit..I sent WIM a PM..we'll see.

I guess it all depends what you want. Cardomain has some fog lights for $20, I am sure they are not that great, but hey $20 is very cheap. But If you want some high quality, really bright lights, perhaps these are not the best choice.

  6. I have been dying to do this to 95 legacy. I was going to start on right after new years. I was hoping maybe you could help me out with some advice. Which is a good system to get? Was the wiring prety straightforward (was all the wiring you needed right under the key switch)?

Sorry for hijacking your thread. I am just a little excited and nervous about remote start.

    Thanks

  7. Wow, thanks guys.

So upon sifting through all the old records, i found one that said the waterpump was leaking, at 90k. But i have can't find any that say it was replaced. If the water pump was leaking at 90k, it should be leaking a lot more now. But I have not had to add any coolant in the last 1000 miles (since i have had the car). It does not appear to be leaking. So I am thinking that maybe the the belt and pump er replaced at 90k, and he just lost the record.

Alos, is there anything i can spray (silcone lude?) to keep the belts from drying out or lasting any longer?

  8. The voltage looks good for the traditional (non-wideband) sensor in closed feedback. At least it sounds similar to what I have seen on my OBD-2 reader. This is a front sensor, right? It would be abnormal in after-cat sensor in a warmed-up car though.

yup, this is the front sensor. If it is a good sensor, then my mileage is pretty crappy. Why do you think? Anything else i can check/do for better mileage?

  9. I just bought the car, and when i went over the paper work, the timing belt was done at 61k. But the owner says he thinks he did it at 80k or 90k as well. So I took the cover off to inspect the belt. It looks like it is in good shape to me, but then again, i don't know much. Can you please look at the pics and tell me what you think?

  10. So, I tested my o2 sensor...i think.

Here is what i did: This is a three wire sensor, two white and one black.

The two white wires i assume are for the heating element, and the one black wire is the O2 sensor...is that right?

So I splice my multimeter positive to the black wire, and chassi grounded the negative.

The voltage fluctuated between .15 volts to .8 volts and crossed .5 volts 4 or 5 times every 10 seconds.

Is it time to replace the O2 sensor.

Also, I am thinking the 02 sensor is bad because i get about 19 - 20 mpg, on average, but i do drive around 75 mph.

And also, since i don't have a tach, i don't know the rpm, but curing idle the engine sounds like it gets a little low, and is about to stall, but then it revs a little higher and all is good. That only happens maybe 3 or 4 times, every 10 minutes.

    What do you guys think?

  11. I have never heard anything bad about their oil from anyone before. I have run their tranny/diff lubs for years and swear by them. The shop I get them from also has a large number of subaru clubs in the area that run all Redline.

That is good for me to know. I will look more into it. thanks.

Do you know if the 95 legacy has OBD 2 or OBD 1? My understanding was cars after 96 has OBD 2, but I am not sure.
