and just think, THEY WILL BREED!
Too funny- a movie I recently rented is based on the human race dumbing down over the centuries due to stupid people "out breeding" the intelligent ones...

I go about 2 or 3 oil changes with the same washer. I bought a bunch from "thepartsbin" to round off an order once (over $50 free shipping) .99 each. Its good to have a stash of new crush washers ready for oil changes.

I just had a throttle cable "break down" on me recently. It didn't completley break, but some of the cable strands had snapped at the pedal and jammed up into the throttle cable conduit and caused the throttle to stick wide open. Just something to check....

Well today marks the first time in 10 years of owning subes that one of left me by the road side.
I notice the throttle sticking a little as I left for work, pulled over checked the cable cycled it back and forth by hand looked ok pressed on.
10 miles down the road the throttle went WIDE OPEN into red line, I shut down and coasted to a parking lot. Looks like the cable isn't completely broken but many broken cable strands under the pedal. Some of the cable must be jammed up in there for it to be stuck wide open like that....
Still can't complain, this car got me home in many a snow storm/bad weather, its a nice sunny day out, smokin a cigar waitin for triple A.......

PM sent...
I've still got an ea-81 pan laying here. -
Ok how about EA-71 to EA-81 oil pan interchange? I found an EA-71 local...
No, they are very different. Different bolt pattern, different capacity, different gasket.Sorry :-\

Ok cool I didn't know the Loyales had that set up. That might be a solution for me. I'll see what I can find at the local u-pull maybe tomorrow-thanks for the info!
I see your problem - I had noticed the pressure switch on your receiver/dryer and just assumed that the replacements I linked to had the port. I would still contact the folks at ackits.com and see if they have any cross-listed parts that will interchange, or if they can recommend an alternate solution like an inline pressure switch (like the Loyales have). Speaking of which, you may be able to replace one of your hard refrigerant lines with the same line from a Loyale with the integral inline switch. You might need to splice in the electrical connector from the Loyale, too. I'm not sure if the lines are routed the same, but it might work? -
Thanks, but I was up at that Autozone today as a matter of fact...and Napa, and couple of others...The problem is I can't find a receiver dryer with the extra threaded "port" for the switch that mounts into the body of the receiver dryer.
I assume this is a low pressure switch....if anyone knows another place that I can get away with locating this switch in the system?
I'm not an a/c expert here, I just need to replace this part before I place a vacuum on the system, and then try to recharge...
...or you could go here: http://www.autozone.com/R,APP94430/vehicleId,1083602/initialAction,partProductDetail/store,3535/partType,00058/shopping/partProductDetail.htm...or if you want to stay local, check out the Advance Auto Parts in Pottstown, PA for this selection: http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductList.aspx?parttype=397&ptset=A&searchfor=Receiver+Drier+%2f+Acumulator

We are game to come up- I grew up on the east coast and traveled/lived all over but haven't been up in that neck of the woods much! It would be a nice road trip.
June is a busy month though, sometime in July on would be cool.
On a side note of future ideas do you think Harry's in Hazelton would mind if we have a cook out in their parking lot??
That would combine a few of my favorite things: subies, u-pulls, and cook outs!!

Definately some good Chili, and I was pleasently surprised when I didn't feel it's after effects today
Thanks for the thumbs up on the chili guys. I'm happy to hear it didn't cause any permanent damage to anyone...

My 1988 MT Turbowagon usually runs at 3-4 bars. I've seen it go to 5 sitting in traffic in the summer. I have a dual core radiator installed; AC (but not working.)

We will get there sometime early Saturday. We are bringing one small propane grill, some brats and rolls, some beer, and I made my habenero chili for anyone who likes a little hot and spicy kick.
See you tomorrow....

Beer thread! I'm just going to bring a six or two of our local brewpub ale. (They bottle/can some of their brews now)
Also, we are going to bring a small cheapo camping grill (propane) to heat the chili and maybe throw some hot dogs on too....

We've had some mighty ugly machinery show up before, but it was never considered unwelcome!!!
It's a car MEET first and foremost.Nobody from our group enters the judged contest,at least not yet.
Matt,no sweat, and hope all works out well for you.I've got one of those colds you can't shake too easily as well.
Jon in NY,that could work.Let's talk.I can't find the lugnuts for the Pugs though, but they are there somewhere.Got centercaps for those wheels?
Well, all of my subes are daily commuters. Maintaining them to keep 'em on the road is the best I can do right now!
Sorry-:-\
Is there going to be a "scratched and dented" area for us to park??
Maybe next year the cars will look a little better !

Ok, I'm gonna make a pot of my Habanero Chili (It gets rave reviews and is pretty good...honest)
Ha-I will bring a case of bottled water to supplement.
Also some tortilla chips and fresh bread for the chili. I don't know what the situation is with portable grills?? Are they allowed? We could do some serious grilling if thats the case.
Randy.

Ok we will be there early Saturday for sure, hopefully we can do a friday night stayover.
Anyway, I can make a pot of my Habanero Chili if there are a few people who like spicy. My chili gets rave reviews but its not for the faint-- only for HOT & Spicy lovers!! I could make a mild version I suppose. Been toying with a venision version too.....ok any feedback on this?

Truth be told I'd rather be in my 1989 GL Wagon 5 spd D/R in a snowstorm than my AWD OBS. Been in snow in both: my 1989 in 4wd is ON RAILS in the snow and its nice having "Lo" on reserve.....OBS does good but not awesome like my ol' touriing wagon!!!!
just my EXPERIENCE.
