  1. Here's a link to the nearest intersection on Yahoo!Maps: http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed=Ud6K6.p_0Trmeuk9jyVTakHI5HXu_BnPZBeH8jdV4MDtxLAJd.y135X_yc1lHw--&csz=scappoose%2C+or&country=us&resize=s The best way to go is up I-5 to 405 North to Hwy 30 North. Take Hwy 30 all the way to Scappoose, then turn left on Scappoose Vernonia Hwy. There are lots of other turn-offs and trails besides this one. Cool you're getting your Brat done soon. I bet you can't wait to get it dirty--the maiden voyage is always the best. Ian
  2. Hi Vega, I haven't been to browns camp yet, but I've been going to a spot between Scappoose and Vernonia. It takes about 45 mins, here is a link to my post about it. http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8852 See ya later
  3. Greetings from Portland. We just took our hatch out for its maiden mud voyage. After intalling a new clutch kit and skidplate, we took to the trails just east of Vernonia, OR. As you'll see from the pictures, there is a good mix of terrain: some easy, some hard, and plenty of mud. The hatch never got stuck or even felt like it was going to. However, there were some trails we left undiscovered due to not having a winch or someone to help get us out of a rut. We were surprised to see snow up there. It wasn’t very deep, but still kind of cool to see so close to home. The nice thing is, we only saw two other people up there, who were riding ATV’s. If anyone’s interested in exploring some new trails, let me know. Below is a link to the photos we took today. http://web.pdx.edu/~whirl/ More to come, Ian. onewayvideo@comcast.net
  4. There's a Gen 1 Brat I'm looking at. Before I buy it, I want to know a few things. How compatible are the Gen 1 Brat components with the EA-81 Wagons? I've got lots of wagon parts, and this Brat is definitely a fixer-upper, so it might be worth my while. Any information is much appreciated. thanks, Ian
  5. To whom it may concern: My '84 Wagon that was stolen last month was recovered today in Longview, WA. As far as damage goes, nothing was really permanently damaged, except that the persons that have been driving my car around for the past few weeks are total slobs. Not only are there cigarette ashes and mysterious stains everywhere, these fine young gentlemen left me with some parting gifts. Not to mention my stereo was stolen--of course--along with the entire console it was housed in. There are some suspects, but what can the punishment possibly be for stealing an older car? Who knows? Thanks to all you guys and girls who kept your eyes open for it. Here's a picture of it when it arrived safe at home on the flatbed. By the way. Does anyone know of a good detail shop around Portland that could confidently get the blood and muck out of my Subaru? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Ian

  7. I just picked up a 1980 GL wagon today. The center light will turn on when the headlights are on low or high, and yes, it is also labeled the passing light.
  8. Thanks for the help, everyone. Yeah, I can't imagine somebody stealing this wagon for any other reason than joyriding. There's a lot fancier cars out there that would be more worth the risk, if they wanted to make money off it. Well, I'll make sure to let everyone know if and when it's found. Ian
  9. Oh man, that's weak. The stereo in my old Honda got stolen when I first moved here. I have no idea why someone would steal an 84 wagon. Although driving a Subaru automatically makes one better than other drivers, driving a stolen Subaru only makes you an A-hole.

  13. I bought a set of VDO gauges (electrical type) and looked everywhere I could possibly think of for thread adapters, including NAPA (the old guy). After going to a specialty fluid connector shop with my dilemma, they suggested (for the oil sending unit) cutting the old sending unit in half and having a fitting with the proper threads brazed on the end. They only charged me $10 to do it. Seeing that I probably spent that much on fuel trying to find the right fitting, it was well worth it. That took care of my thread problem. Since my new sending unit was much bigger than the old one, I also had to use a 45 degree elbow for clearance, but it works great. Since you're using a mechanical gauge, this shouldn't be a problem for you. As for the temperature sending unit, I'm sure the same thing could be done, but my electric gauge only reads about 12 degrees off and I can live with that. Make sure to look at the attached picture. Ian
