Rogue Valley get together

I'm headed down to northern California to visit some people, and do some 4 wheeling. We will be driving through Medford on the way back where we will probably meet up with General Disorder and Nicky Nighteyes, if they decide to make the trip. Have you guys settled on a location? -
Rogue Valley get together

A few of us from Portland were thinking about meeting up with you guys, on the weekend of the 19th. I will be driving through anyway, so it would be cool to hook up. -
Nice, looks like it's all there, what plans do you have for it?
-
Sweet score, got any pics?

Rick, my hatch had the same symptoms, and it turned out to be a bad head gasket even though the engine ran fine. I was loosing coolant and I didn't have the white smoke either. I did a compression check and sure enough the gasket was toast. When I get back to Portland you can use my compression tester to check it out.

I haven't exactly been able to make contact with the owner yet, so I haven't had a real good look at it. I don't know the mileage or any of the other important details. "The only sedans I've gotten were either free or under $150" This sounds good to me, very low risk project. Thanks moosens I'll keep you posted.

I would think that the Brat may have one of the highest death rates for rollovers because of the passengers in the jumpseats. As far as rollovers in general I thought it was the Bronco II that held that title. I owned one that was rebuilt after a rollover, and was a passenger in a first series Bronco that rolled. I have ridden in GD's Brat and it seems much more stable than any Bronco I have ridden in.

Can anyone give me a rough estimate on what a 76 2-door sedan is worth? It has little on no rust,(the paint is what you would expect for a 1976 that has been stored outside). The body is in very good condition, and all of the trim, lights and emblems are intact. The interior is in fair condition, and I think I could drive it away. I would have to put new tires on it though.

I'm not so worried about crap getting in the grease while I'm on the street, it's the fender deep mud and water that gets around the dust shield while off-road. But I don't really worry about that either, I'ts never caused me any grief. The seals do a pretty good job keeping the grease in and the grime out. If your rig sees alot of miles, yearly bearing re-greasing dosent hurt.

A Video of my Rusty Wagon
Bugaru replied to spanky_pete's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sweet video, off-roading stock rules. All the bottoming out on stuff makes for an exciting ride. -
Flow, I got them at Les Schwab, but I have also seen them at Napa.
-
Oh yeah, and they're chrome.
-
Yeah, I considered doing that, but for now this was a good simple fix. This would also be a good alternative for you guys with alloys, since welding isn't an option for you.

So during last weekend's off roading trip, I managed to tear off a valve stem on a tree branch stub, resulting in an instant flat. I always carry a spare, but having to navigate through the rest of this unfamiliar trail with my spare used up, due to unnecessary damage, left me a little bit nervous. We made it out with no further problems, but I wanted to find a way to prevent it from happening next time. So when I was in the tire shop I told them my dilemma, and after a few other ideas, the guy produced one of these guys. $6 a wheel for one thing less to go wrong on the trail....bargain. The guy said I couldn't snap one of these...so we'll see.
-
Ah... the wagon, ok. Yeah that's the same place I saw the other guy, and somebody in a camo brat frequents that area too. Actually that corner right by the electric motor shop is where we filmed one of the urban off-road vids. Wildcats..nice choice, mine have withstood alot of abuse, no complaints. The lift kits for the EA81's are pretty simple, if you have access to metal working tools it can be done very cheap. It's the grade 8 hardware that will get ya. I'm not sure what is all involved in lifting an EA82, but it shouldn't be that difficult. Yeah that's Gunners Lake area, every time we go up there we seem to find somewhere new to go. Definitely some of the best trails I have ever run across. GD got to sample one of those spots you speak of, I do believe a snorkel is now on the to do list. Video coming soon...... I'll send you an email so we can meet up. Nicky, yes some of the Urban stuff is in the NW industrial area by St. Helens highway, but there is a few other choice spots up north of St. Johns, and even more places I have my eye on, with... possible jumps. Get ahold of GD or me if you want to check em out sometime.

I own the Hatchback, were you the one driving the jacked up Samauri? We ought to hook up and do some wheeling, red clay sounds fun. Like GD said I'll have a welded diff soon, so I need something to try it out in. Ian

Hey Adam, how did that video you guys took when we were down there turn out? I'd like to get a copy of it so I could put it up on our website.

The video section has now been updated with lo-res versions. More video on its way. http://www.atlas4x4.com/video.asp

Okay, so I got the camera working today and couldn't wait to get out to the sticks to film, so we did a little urban off-roading instead. Check it out: http://www.atlas4x4.com/video.asp

Pics of new tires and brushguard
Bugaru replied to ru4x4ever's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I like the tires, nice tread pattern. Diff hanger looks sweet, good luck trying to break that one. GD and I are currently beefing ours up too, due to our last trip.... -
Ok, we stumbled on this beauty today while driving around Portland (it was the nicer one in the driveway that caught our eye though). The guy who owns it said this one was used in some kind of destruction derby, from the looks of it I would say he's not far off. The barn it was in collapsed on it a few months ago, but I don't think you will really be able to tell that damage from the problems it already had. After the wood is salvaged from the barn, I will be able to give it a better inspection without the rest of the roof coming down on me. Has anyone ever seen this beast in action?
