EA82 Code 55
Um, none? Is it supposed to? Doesn't say anything about that in the FSM and I've successfully resolved a few other codes it had. Oh, and the specification code is 5 on this car

EA82 Code 55
Definitely have a CEL, definitely 5 long followed by 5 short flashes. My other Loyale has 5 flashes with no CEL indicating no problems. As mentioned, the car does have some other issues so maybe once they're resolved this problem will sort itself out.

EA82 rough accerlation
Ignition system has pretty much been entirely replaced. Coil, dizzy, cap, rotor, wires, plugs. I just discovered there's a drop in exhaust temperature after the 2nd cat. Temp rises after the 1st one. Not sure if this is normal on these cars or not, but I'm going to investigate this further.

EA82 Code 55
Definitely SPFI. Perhaps this code is a result of another problem? (which I have a few of)

Casull, what have you tried fixing/testing/repairing? After maintaining/repairing all my own vehicles for the last 20 years, I've never been so stumped on a problem. I'm just about to admit defeat and take her to a shop.

sluggish..? no acceleration...?? answer...
I'd love to know how this turned out.

EA82 Low Fuel Pressure
My bad, its supposed to be 36-50 psi at the pump.
-
EA82 Low Fuel Pressure
So I'm only getting 20-25 psi at the injector. Pretty sure it should be 36-50. Fuel pump, filter and pressure regulator have been replaced. Has anyone experienced this?

EA82 Code 55
Looks like I spoke too soon. The code came back after an extended drive

EA82 Code 55
Yep, that seemed to do the trick Thanks again!

EA82 Code 55
Interesting, according to the previous owner there was an engine swap done at some point. Hopefully I'll get to this today and report back. Thanks!

EA82 Code 55
ihscout54, the wire harness on my car is the same as what you posted above. There's no power on this #33 wire. Is cutting it going to do anything? Maybe I don't quite understand this system.

EA82 rough accerlation
Does anyone think it could be a bad injector? When I bought the car the timing was all messed up.....while attempting to start it, the engine backfired out the intake several times. Almost blew a hole through the air filter. EGR and purge solenoids have been replaced.

EA82 rough accerlation
The only things in the fuel system I haven't inspected, repaired, or replaced, are the fuel injector and pressure regulator.

EA82 rough accerlation
UPDATE: Tested the TPS. It seems good, but slightly out of adjustment. I feel like this would affect the idle more than anything. Cleaned the TB and went for a short test drive....no improvement.

EA82 rough accerlation
Did you remove the TB or just spray/brush while on the engine?

EA82 rough accerlation
After being parked for 2 years my 94 Loyale has a 'jerky' and sluggish acceleration. Worse at lower rpm's and some days are worse than others. Also, a few days ago the engine quit without warning twice while driving uphill. Started back up a minute later. Not sure if this is a related problem. Either way, I'm suspicious of the fuel system and specifically the fuel pump, but I don't want to start throwing parts at it if it can be avoided. I've considered a plugged Cat, but the exhaust smells normal and seems to have good flow out the tailpipe. No relevant codes from the ECU present. I've run a tank of fresh fuel with a can of Seafoam through it and done a full tune-up including all filters and ignition components. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any suggestions on where to begin troubleshooting? Update: Its not the fuel pump

EA82 Code 55
Ok I definitely don't have this sensor. ihscout54, that would be fantastic if you can help me out! No inspection required, I just want that darn CEL off.

EA82 Code 55
Does anyone have a California model Loyale? I'm not sure where my car is from (usa somewhere), but I'm getting a code 55 and cant seem to locate this 'EGR gas temp sensor'. My coolant temp sensor tests ok, and I've replaced my EGR and purge solenoids.

94 Loyale wont stay running, backfiring
Success! Previous owner had R cam 180 deg. off. Good call rdweninger & DaveT! Thanks everyone!

94 Loyale wont stay running, backfiring
So I'm looking at the timing belts. When the crank (#1) piston is at TDC, the dots on both cam sprockets are up. I feel like 1 should be up and 1 should be down?

94 Loyale wont stay running, backfiring
Anyone think it could be bad gas? Car has sat for 1.5 years with a 1/2 tank.

94 Loyale wont stay running, backfiring
My disty is setup like this 3 1 2 4 I had the #1 piston @ TDC and placed the rotor in a 1:30 o'clock position pointing towards the master cylinder.
