  1. Hi got my trans in and car in the road but now when I downshift into second it grinds the gears and into first. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
  2. I looked and nothing seems to be mis-plugged. I think I found the flasher relay cause when I turn the turn signal in these two round "things" under the dash gets warm/hot. I cannot figure it out...
  3. Had to drop the steering assembly and unplugged a lot of stuff but it all seems to only plug in one way. So I got everything plugged back up that I can see that goes together and every thing works but the turn signals. Can some one give some advice
  4. Subaru gl I'm putting a 4 speed trans n and I got it on the bottom studs but can't get it to go all the way in. And advise tips or tricks? I'm working wth a floor jack and a screw jack thanks
  5. So I'm making my gl into a manual trans and I had to remove the whole steering wheel to put the petal assembly in anyways I was looking at this and was wondering if I should replace it? The donor car don't have this it's just the "u-joint" should I take the one from the donor car or will this be fine? Thanks

  7. And the bearing that is sealed goes in the flywheel it's the small one I'm not sure about
  8. I got a clutch kit and all went ok but I'm not sure were this "spline" bearing goes. Can someone help me? It's for a subaru gl 1984 thanks
  9. No I can't getting the throw out bearing off the guide. Did know about the wiring you talked about
  10. And also they sent a spline bearing with the kit and I can under stand were it goes. I for the one into the fly wheel but not sure were the spline bearing goes
  11. They just sent the throw out bearing with no "guide". The old one needs to come off. Trying to figure out how to do it at home
  12. No the throw out bearing, not sure how to get off the peice of metal it's pressed on...
  13. Hi, so I'm putting in the clutch in a subaru gl. Is there anyway to get the throw out bearing off without a machine shop? Thanks

  15. Hi I'm doing a trans swap and have everything pretty much figured out excepted the flywheel and timing, can some one please tell me what I need to do to get it right? Doin even need to do anything but put the flywheel on because the timing belts were never removed? It's a subaru gl ea82 thanks
  16. Quick question... The parts car I was getting was sold before I could get it. I have talked to a could people that think the problem is the differential. Can the gears in it be replaced? I was wince told that subaru could place any part for older subarus. Also I was looking on eBay for a trans and the models go from 1981-83 then 1985-89 the problem is that mines a 1984! Also can a fwd trans be put n as a direct replacemt for the automatic 4wd? Thanks
  17. So the subaru brat drive shaft won't work in the wagon? I had planed on transferring everything over from the trans to the rearend

  19. I changed the motor and trans from on brat to another one time in one night by myself. I'm hoping that will help me with this project... What I don't understand is how to get petals were they need to be, are there wholes for it to be mounted? I'm thinking everything else should go smooth... He donor car was said to have been to rusted to drive and parked. Is there a way to tell if the trans is good n it? The car does not run.... What can I look for to help me know this car wasn't parked because the trans went out? Thanks Richie
  20. Hi, I have a 1984 gl auto 4wd that I want to convert to dual range. I found a fairly cheep subaru brat and was wondering if it's just a straight forward swap or is there anything I need to be aware of? Thanks
