  1. I'll pull the fuel line at the carb and see if I get flow.
  2. Choke is setting the throttle open, and pumping the pedal beforehand doesn't change the results. I still think it's fuel though for some reason.
  3. I'm looking for all the help I can get. Posted on the orig. justy forum as well (troubleshooting). Here's some recent work I've done on it: weber carb install, new starter, fuel pump/filter and hoses, new battery, new alt belt and had the alt tested. I checked for spark on all the plugs and looked fine, they're pretty new still too. It was pretty cold this morning, and "Clifford" wouldn't start up. Here's a video of what happens: Usually I have to depress the accelerator about half way to get it started cold, but in the video there's only a little change in how it turns over once I depress it fully. One thing at a time...
  4. Got it. Lashes were all over tightened, I'll keep an eye on mpg.
  5. Are the exhaust valves the ones closest to the firewall? And looking at the photo from L-R it's 1-3-2?
  6. Can I get some instructions/photos on how to access/adjust valves on my 88 justy (1.2)? Looking to adjust the clearance, but don't know where to start. Any help would be appreciated.
  7. I went with the two piece weber kit. It came with the carb and has been working ok.
  8. Ended up just cutting the part that was sticking up. Filled the hole and the adapter plates fit fine. Next up, adjusting idle/speed.
  9. I'm not seeing the same base mount on the manifold. Where the coolant comes up, there's an inner tube poking up above the mounting level. With it poking up, the gaskets and adapter plates won't sit flat. Here's a photo: http://i.imgur.com/nk8m4jG.jpg
  10. I'm about to put this weber carb on my 88 4wd justy with the adapter plates. I might be back with some questions/photos about which hoses can be capped and which ones attach to the weber.
  11. Planning on swapping in a weber soon. timing belt is new but a valve adjustment is up next. Bummer about your carb...
  12. Replaced the pcv setup and it improved the smoke, and I'm looking to do a compression test here pretty soon.
  13. Ok, final question, before I order it. Even though redline says the weber only fits up to '87s and mine is an '88, will it fit? This is what I'm looking at, and it seems to include the adapter: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Subaru-1985-1987-1-8L-OHC-EA82-Weber-Carb-Conversion-/331100259795?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d171d05d3&vxp=mtr Thanks again.
  14. Thank you Ferox, King of the Echo People. So I should be able to just swap that weber carb with the one I've got right now? Saw a post over at the orig justy forum where someone had to modify the air filter, manifold adapter and throttle linkage. Am I going to need those parts as well? Found a 32.36 DGEV kit on amazon, but it says it's for a toyota pickup. Looks the same as what I'm seeing on justy forums though...
  15. Trying to run some sort of diagnostic on my 88 4wd justy. Just got the thing and boy does it run rich/burn oil. Replaced the o2 sensor and things improved, but if I get over 3500 rpms in any gear, smoke comes out the exhaust. Puts around just fine but I'd like to be able to use a larger range of rpms. Right now the thing smells like a go kart if I get the engine revved up! Second, it just won't idle at first. Cold or hot, the first 2 minutes after starting up involve me keeping it alive. Then eventually it will idle at 1200. Just wondering if it's the choke and how to adjust or install a manual choke if necessary. Was thinking about sending the carb to be rebuilt, but before I spend that money I wanted to poke around here. Thanks, and I can take pictures/ record video if that would help at all.
