  1. I use Mobil 1 and Fram filters in my WRX. No problems. I also stick a very strong magnet to the bottom of the oil filter to attract the metal shavings. I also disagree with synthetic oils being bad to use in vehicles being stored for more than 30 days. I run Mobil 1 in my Camaro and store in for the winter and I've never had a problem yet. The oil leaves a nice film on the cylinder walls.
  2. Groan...why do people insist on throwing horsepower figures around. First, the figures mentioned are flywheel or crank not wheel horsepower. Second, the Z has 1 more turbo and 2 more cylinders. My guess is the Z will make much more torque than the STI. And last, the Z has a far greater potential to make power than the STI. A cat back, intake, and chip, and you're looking at 500 (flywheel) horsepower. I've personally seen a stock 96 Z race a new STI, no contest, not evev close, granted, anything can happen on the street adn a lot of times it boils down to the driver. I never have to worry though, I have both a new WRX and a 95 Z-28 (dynoed at 425 rwhp) and I have yet to be taken on the street.
  3. Hmmm....let's see, a heavier car, makes less boost, makes less horsepower, and is faster than a standard WRX.....not. I would not believe everything (or much of anything really) in those car mags.
  4. I've heard that using dry ice will work well too in taking out small (hailstone sized) dents.
  5. Just joined the forum and have a rather basic question to ask. I will be taking delivery of an '04 WRX wagon here in a couple of weeks. It obviously will not remain stock for long, but what mods should I do first?
