I am having trouble in higher speeds on my 1991 Subaru Loyale. It takes approx 4000 rpm to go 65 mph. Is this normal? I thought it might be the timing advance systems on the distributor, but when I looked, I found no vacume advance unit (not even a place to mount one), nor does there appear to be a centrifugal advance mechanism. The entire unit below the rotor is sealed so I assume it is all electrical.. I didn't see a distributor picture in my repair manual that matched mine so now I am really wondering.
Also, when I hook up a timing light, I don't even come close to the TDC scale, or even 20 degrees BTDC... I am totally off the scale (perhaps a 1/4 turn of the flywheel or so) and can't adjust even close to it.
Any suggestions? Oh.. I just had a new engine put in, so I am wondering what might have been done wrong.
