  1. I am in the same boat as far as front struts for my 83 Hatchback, even looking into a 2 inch lift. This is all new to me for I have never owned a 4x4 before and am learning about suspension and such. I did find a skid plate at the salvage yard today from a 85 Forester. I wish that they made adjustable coilovers to fit this car. I doubt very much that I will do anything to the coils because I do not know enough to tackle that so I will search for decent struts and search this board for further info on struts and 2 inch lift pro;s and cons. Good luck with yours and I will keep an eye on it for info.
  2. Hey thanks for the info. I just came on to look up that same problem I have with my EA81 Hatchback. I just got it switched over to the new Freon. I will try and figure this out here because I am no mechanic.
  3. Sorry but I have not dealt with that problem. I have had other hard to find parts problem but not that one. Hopefully someone will come by soon with an answer. Mine just got out of shops for being rebuilt and such. I would think a custom window's person could have an answer.
  4. I am not sure, I don't know enough about them. I am new as well and kinda read around the board to get more informed. I am not sure when the AWD replaced the 4x4 though as I have in my 83 Hatchback.
  5. MY BAD! Upon further discussion with the mechanic at the transmission shop, this bearing was part of a cluster inside the manual transmission. A Koyo DAC2358N bearing. It was not part of the clutch.
  6. Thank you, I will look into this and it is a 4x4 1800 engine. Have you used this before? Amazon has bearings that have #'s starting with "wo....." which say they will work also yet the transmission guy has shied away from it for some reason or another weather it be a specific pattern or something I do not know since I do not know what my part looks like and have never seen it. You see the automotive shop before, which I had major problems with, said they did some clutch work yet I have no proof what they did and even if they installed a different bearing which was a wrong one. Those original people are gone and therefore have nobody to ask. The transmission shop now sent it off to a bearing company to get specifics on the part to help in the search, hence the long wait because these people do not make anything off this bearing. I wonder if you or these people mentioned above know if there are any differences in the clutches between the models and if it would work and just buy it to give to the transmission guy and say "hey, see if this will work", anything to get the ball rolling again. Thanks Tom
  7. I, and the transmission shop in which it is in, cannot find the release bearing Koyo DAC32358N for the clutch. I have been trying to bring this car back to life and am almost there except for this bearing. I am at my witts end. Its been in the shop(s) close to 2 years being rebuilt, restored, and transmission sealed etc. I spent alot of money only to end up with a transmission not working due to a bearing. Aamco is trying to find one with others in the trade but since nobody is making money off of it and it being extremely difficult if not impossible to find I do not know where else to turn. Please help, I do want to get this little car back on the road. I understood that I would never get back what I put into it, yet I do not want it to end this way. Thanks, James
  8. That is nice. I am restoring a 1983 GL 4x4 Hatchback as well. I just got the engine rebuilt, new struts..... I have put a nice chunk of change into this little guy and have ran into a big problem. I cannot find a clutch bearing, Koyo #DAC2358N anywhere. This car has been in shops for well over a year and 3 months in a transmission shop for this part alone. If anyone can help me find one please let me know. Thanks and good luck on yours.
  9. Sorry I have not. I am looking for a clutch bearing, Koyo #DAC2358N for a 1983 GL Hatchback and it is proving impossible.
  10. Nice, I have an 83 Hatchback yet it is still in the shop.
