  1. car is legacy wagon ej2.2 auto 115k miles. is it common for the oil pump gasket to leak ? i have been cleaning up the rusty bolts for the radiator and fan supports. i just got this car and been fixing it.up. i am ready to put the timing covers on and finish up but the oil pump area looks wet and dirty. i am not sure if its from the oil that leaked from the cam seals the oil change or the pump is leaky. Its not really dripping but its oily. i plan on pressure washing the engine and bay again . im wondering if i should reseal the pump ???? Thanks
  2. i forget what one you need, but one has a couple and one has several,tabs on the back. a quick search will give you your answer im sure.
  3. i think it also matters if the car is AT or MT the stubs on the back are for the censers to read the timing
  4. i went back to amazon and changed my order, i found the oversize case the magnet strap and a bunch of probes for $150 so i got that instead. thanks

Also i change the O-rings in the AC system and charged it, a nice steady 43 degrees. some one is going to get a good car cheap. i had a 95 sedan a couple years ago i sold it with 240k and it ran great. i put firestone winterforce snow tires all around that was a beast in the snow i wish it was lifted. i would throw a chainsaw in the trunk and drive around in bad weather for fun, if a tree was over the road i would cut it up and keep goin !

I know, I told the girl i proly was going to fix it and sell it. she was ok with it. i actually whent to her house and was going to give her another $100. she is a dog trainer and i have a flat bed truck, she asked me if i would go a couple towns over and pick up some kennel fence and poles for her. so i did and now i feel better. i know $350 was low but i was taking a chance too, the car my have had blown HG. she said it was overheating. The kid that tried to fix it should have never opened the hood ! Oh yeah and a brand new Nappa Battery, i wish i found these cars every day !
  9. Yes and Yes. Those censors are magnets wound with wire if a wire is broken it will touch when cold and expand after the engine runs and warms up. shut it off and try to restart and nothing till it cools. Eventually the wire will not touch and no more start. Cam Censors are $65 at nappa for aftermarket.there is i sooby JY 10 minutes from my house i got a sooby part for $20. The guy told me they usually dont go bad but in the 90`s there was a bad run of them and subaru sent dealers a cam and crank in a pack just for the replacement. he had a couple sets new but i bought the used one. oh they were $60 for both new good deal, sooby parts too !
  10. I pushed the shraider valve to see if it had pressure, there was none. so i replace all the rubber 0-rings in the system filled it with coolant the compressor kicked on. and i got 43 degrees at the vents. i put the seat back an enjoyed. Fixed !!
  11. do you know what one is for the compressor ? i want to jump it and see if the compressor starts. thanks
  12. 1996 legacy ej2.2 . The A/C Compressor is not going on. all fuses are good. But it has 4 relays for a/c i swaped them on at a time with the headlight relay and nothing. any tips or info would be great, thanks
  13. for me it was the cam censor i pulled it out and tested it and it was bad, got another from JY for $20 BOOM fixed. fresh coolant and oil change. the kid i bought it from was throwing parts at it. he installed timing belt and all tensioners seals water pump. starter coil wires plugs cam gear pulleys harmonic balancer ( i put a new gear and woodruff key because it was messed up) belts T-Stat 1 and 3 injectors. also has brand new tires. i bought it for $350 bucks only 115k miles
  14. well, the car is fixed, no over heating, new timing belt and all the stuff that goes in there. new spark plugs. cam censor. i paid $350 for this car . the kid was throwing all kinds of new parts at it. and sold it out of frustration. i had a few soobys in the past and really liked this car with only 115k miles, I am going to sell it, has brand new tires too! thanks
  15. i was reading this thread for info. i got a po340 code .cam censor. I pulled it and checked it with a multimeter and read no continuity , compared to a good one and the reading was good, i installed it and it fired right up. so pull the crank censor and test it. thanks

  17. I dont think the HG are blown after all just have a hard time getting the air out i have heat in and out and engine temp not rising to fast , done for tonight. Thanks
  18. Well i hooked it up to my scanner and got code 340, i pulled the cam censor and checked the continuity and there was none, i replaced it and it fired right up. Now the coolant is not circulating, the overflow is sooty alttle milky, blows no heat , i think the HG are blown . Maybe the heater core too. Whats next ?

I just installed the T-stat installed the fans and added water turned to key and no start, i started it 2 3 times this morning and now nothing. it turns over but no fire. this time the engine is cold and no fire. i will change the oil for sure. i bought this car like this. i am trying to figure it out. its in great shape with only 115k just need to figure this out. i was hoping to run it with the fans and stuff to bring it up to temp and see ,but not yet. thanks
