  1. I know there's been write-ups done before there's links to it on this site but every link takes me to a dead page does anybody have a wiring diagram or schematic for a 91 loyal eengine harness please thank you for your time and for reading my posts
  2. It should if the entire ignition system harness distributor grounds and coil circuit and everything els gets changed I don't see why it wouldn't fix the problem unless the problem is that the spark plugs aren't grounding in the head which I don't see possible the electrical issue to me seems like it has to be an open short or positive short somewhere in the coil circuit I got a free car just sitting here that I'm using for parts so I'm not out any money messing around with it is anybody know what for relays are under the hood there's one with a blue connector there's one with a white connector there's one with the green connector there's one with the black connector what relay do I need to tie into the harness for the ignition I don't care about the fuel pump I'm running inertia switch
  3. Here is one from another user on here that sounds exactly like the issue I'm having http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/139106-light-show/ Here's the thread I posted about the electrical issue http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/163231-electrical-or-carb-issue-85gl-18-weber-swap/?fromsearch=1 I appreciate everything you guys are doing taking the time to read my post and give your input helps a lot
  4. I have multiple threads on here explaining the electrical problem on the 85 nobody on here could figure it out either I'll post a link to my to my threads to see if one of you guys can figure it out and there's a couple other people on here that have the same issue and they never posted a fix the thread just died
  5. I'm having issues with the ignition system in the Weber setup I've talked to all kinds of people nobody can figure it out what's going on is at the base of every spark plug you know how there's a washer that goes on the base of the plug where that washer seats to the head there's a ring of electricity going around all four spark plugs also when the electricity leaves the distributor you can see the electricity flowing on the outside of the wire all the way down to the plug I've done new coil new pickup new plugs new wires pretty much entire ignition systems been replaced check all grounds added to ground straps to each head nothing fixes it I'v taking into multiple electrical shops and nobody can figure it out. With the SPFi set up everything is replaced harness grounds coil distributor everything that's the main reason why I want to do the swap plus I hate rebuilding carburetors everything about a carburetor sucks
  6. Does anyone have a schematic for the harness or another spfi harness
  7. Ok I may have messed up big then I was going to run an inertia switch to the fuel pump but I already cut the relays out what wires/relay is for the ignition the only reason why I wanted to leave the old harness in there so I didn't need to rewire the fuse box for all my lights and blinkers and wipers and what not
  8. I was planning on leaving the harness that goes to the old ECU in the 85 to my headlights and all the old harness and just run the 91 ECU with a new harness to the sensors the old wiring in 85 is all completely still intact untouched the 91 loyal I already stripped the ignition coil distributor intake manifold harness and ECU I'm going to run the 91 loyal fuel pump probably just hot wired through the fuse box
  9. I got a 1985 GL with a Weber on it and I just got a 91 loyal for free converting the 85 to EFI if anybody has a write up that would be awesome all the links I found take me to a dead page I got the harness out and all cut up and we put back together just wondering what gives power to the ECU (what pin what wires) also do I need any of the relays I'm leaving my old wiring harness for the dash in the lights in the starter all hooked up just running the ECU to the sensors and fuel pump I can send pictures of what I have done I don't know how to put them in this message but I can text them or message them to somebody if that'll help thank you for your time and expertise hope someone gets back soon
  10. I'll try the voltage drop this weekend the coil that is one here now is the old coil I had a new coil on before this all started so I swapped it with the old one and it's still doing the same thing both coils ohmed out good
  11. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/139106-light-show/ this sounds almost exactly like my problem with the spark issue but they never said what the problem was or they just gave up and the thread died
  12. It's arching at the washer that is on the bottom of the plug that seats to the head on all 4 cylinders
  13. Checked plugs and wires this is my second set of plugs and wires the first time I used the cheap pro spark now I got bosh wires and still same thing it's not arching from the boot of the plug wire it's arching around the base of the plug and on all 4 cylinders I checked all the engine to body grounds and added a grounding strap to both heads
  14. I got a 85 gl wagon new plugs/wires cap and rotor it's arching where the base of the spark plugs seat to the head if you look down at the head there is just a ring of electricity around the base of the plug on all 4 cylinders it idles bad and dies and at higher rpm is feels like a miss fire but if you close the choke plates it runs fine you can hear little pops through the throat of the carb like to much air or a vacuum leak it has the Weber 32/36 with a transdapt 1 piece adapter plate my question is do I have an electrical or carb problem I know it's not supposed to do either
  15. Intake manifold gaskets replaced carb base gaskets replaced but it still just cranks 2 weeks before this happened it toasted 2 alternators in 2 weeks the stock one then a replacement I took the replacement back and got a new one but it on and it worked. Then 2 days later this happened could it be an electrical I haven't been able to test cause it won't start
  16. No shut off and I know fuel is getting to the carb when you pump the throttle the accelerator pump squirts fuel into the barrel and the sediment bowl was full when i checked the needle i tried dumping gas into the barrel still nothing. would a bad carb base gasket or intake manifold gaskets cause a no start
  17. Sorry the Weber swap was pretty important total mods 1996 spfi ea82 ohc with 1985 ea82 intake with Weber 32/36 Nippon denzo distributor no computers I don't think. I unhooked the return line from the carb its flowing out the return line so I pulled the top of the carb to check needle valve it's not stuck and it squirts with the accelerator pump
  18. I was driving it for 5 moths before this night it has a Weber 32/36 I rebuilt 5 months ago when I first got the car running. timing has not been touched sine I first tuned it ignition timing is 20 btdc I didn't check for spark at 0tdc I set the crank to tdc then looked to see were the rotor was pointing "like if it was tdc and the rotor was firing cylinder 2" even with air filter off choke plates open
  19. Yes it has spark on all 4 put new plugs in anyway no change nice blue spark on all 4 coil ohmed at 12.46v from terminal to where the coil plug wire would go
  20. Checked cam timing with the 3 lines on the flywheel one cam was straight up the other was straight down then rotated the engine till TDC the 0 mark btdc then took the cap off rotor was right at cylinder 1
  21. My 85 gl won't start it was running fine pulled the radiator to get the AC condenser off from in front of the radiator. Flushed the radiator with viniger just plugged the upper and lower hose and filled it with viniger then put a thermostat in. Before I put the radiator back in I flushed about 10 gallons of water through it put it in and topped it off with 50/50 turned the key fired right up let it idle for 30/40 min letting it burp and topping off when it needed it temps never got above 200 shut it off went to start it the next day it just cranked no start. Checked cam timing it's dead on set tdc on compression stroke took the distributor cap off rotor was pointing right at cylinder 1 new plugs has spark on all 4 and 160 lbs compression on all 4 fuel pump is pumping and it won't fire with starting fluid I'm at a loss hopefully someone on here can help thanks for reading let me know if you need any more info
  22. I didn't think the power would be great I have the dual range but I'll probably do the 2" with some 14" rims thanks for the reply
