  1. Hey, thanks for being honest, I have only had 2 subarus so I am kinda new to these engines.... I wonder why Subaru do the 65 degree thing. Wondering if is a bolt that stretches to stay tight...
  2. I found this in my Subaru Manual. Page 242, What I rarely hear or read what people never do: Step 2 under Installation. 13.Crank Pulley A: REMOVAL 1) Remove the V-belts. <Ref. to ME(H4SO)-36, REMOVAL, V-belt.> 2) Remove the crank pulley bolt. To lock the crankshaft, use Shop Tool 499977100 CRANK PULLEY WRENCH 3) Remove the crank pulley. B: INSTALLATION 1) Install the crank pulley. 2) Install the pulley bolt. To lock the crankshaft, use Shop Tool 499977100 CRANK PULLEY WRENCH (1) Clean the crankshaft thread using compressed air. (2) Apply engine oil to the crank pulley bolt seat and thread. (3) Tighten the bolts temporarily with tightening torque of 44 N·m or 33 ft-lb). (4) Tighten the crank pulley bolts. Tightening torque: 180 N·m or 132.8 ft-lb) 3) Check that the tightening angle of the clamp pulley bolt is a minimum of 65°, Perform the following procedures when less than 65°. (1) Replace the crank pulley bolts and clean them. Crank pulley bolt: 12369AA011 (2) Clean the crankshaft thread using compressed air. (3) Apply engine oil to the crank pulley bolt seat and thread. (4) Tighten the bolts temporarily with a tightening torque of 44 N·m (4.5 kgf-m, 33 ft-lb). (5) Tighten the crank pulley bolt keeping them in an angle between 65° and 75°. NOTE: Conduct the tightening procedures by confirming the turning angle of crank pulley bolt referring to the gauge indicated on timing belt cover. Thoughts?
  3. I have...NO Interference. Next, timing cover, rocker covers, spark plugs and then back into the car... 2 months this has been going on...
  4. I understand, I lived in Queen Ann, Capital Hill, Bremerton from 1997 to 2008 Has the car ever been thru deep water like to the center of the wheel? If so, the seal may have leaked and cause contamination of the hub/wheel bearing. Have you ever change the front and rear differential gear oil?
  5. Yeap, just want to make sure I didn't do something wrong. It is a 2006 with 99k on it. Bunch a new stuff, previous owner let a non subaru shop work on it... they used impact wrench on tensioner that was failing (leaking fluid), bolt got a stress crack.. it broke on me after only owning the car for a month... 4 valves bent... no fun. fyi, I have Bilstein B6 Struts and Shocks going on after I am done with the engine.
  6. Hello, The Belt is on. All the gears lined up. Question: Will the Cam Gears and Crank Gear ever line up like it did when it was first set up? I have crank the belt through several cycles and I can't get the marks to all line up like they were when I first set them up.
  7. Hello, When I am doing my Rocket Arm to Valve Stem clearance. Should the Feeler Gauge have some resistance when I pull it out after tightening the Locking Nut, or should it slide out easily? Thanks
  8. If I remember correct, a company/guy on the net use to rebuild the transmissions... it would take a little searching to find him, maybe he still does it.
  9. Is easier or harder to reinstall the engine with intake manifold Off or On? I have a Strongway Lift with Engine leveler. My concern is the chain hitting Ignition Coil Thoughts Thanks, Mike
  10. There was a guy in Oregon who actually made a complete swap kit. If the lookup SVX with Manual Transmission they tell you what is needed. I also remember reading on a SVX site that a guy had pics of one that was completed
