  1. Yes yes I keep learning the same lessons over again. Anyway, the dealer called. Yup, it was that stupid switch. I was sooo close. Thanks for your help.
  2. Thanks. I was afraid it could behind a panel or hidden somehow. Yes I looked at all the fuses and metered them. I spent 2 days looking for the problem. But being it's winter now, and she needs her car, my time ran out and she took it to the dealer tonight. It's funny, but I always buy a manual for any motorcycle I buy. And of course I have all the manuals for my bugs. But for a sube I figured I wouldn't have to do that much work to it. But then sometimes things happen. We'll find out tomorrow what the damage will be I guess.
  3. Hi. I'm hoping someone can help me. I've searched and googled and getting few answers. So, my wife's 06 Legacy wagon has no parking lights at all 4 corners. Neither the switch on top of column nor headlight switch will turn them on. Checked fuses with meter, all are good. Getting 12V at fuse points. All other lights work normal, brakes, signals, flashers & headlights. (Including DRL) Interior dash, and all other lights seem normal. There are no modifications done, no trailer wiring, nothing. 69K on odo. I checked bulbs, all are good. I see this problem has come up a few times, but no real definitive answers as far as I can tell. I do NOT have a manual and am only barely handy, but at least functional, Hopefully I gave enough info. to help me track this down. Thanks in advance.
  4. Well, I guess I'll have to hit up another dealer then. I am not going back to where we bought it from. As long as the "other" dealer doesn't mind looking at it. They did right by me on the problem my OBS had back in January. Thanks.
  5. OK she was right. I don't listen to her. I thought she said the ABS light. Sorry. Nope. It's the AIRBAG light. (No wonder I don't listen, it's an airbag.) Anyway, I saw it for myself tonight, finally. We we're out (She was driving) and we made a couple of quick stops. She put it in Park & left the engine running while she ran into a couple of places. After the 2nd stop, when she put it into D, the AIRBAG light came on and stayed on the rest of the way home. Later on we went out again and the light was out. My 1st thought is maybe the seat sensor is acting up. I know the passenger side seat has one, because of the overhead console activation lamp. I would figure the drivers side must have one too. Maybe it's getting worn out from too many ins & outs? Car is an '06 Legacy wagon, 25K.
  6. Hi, I tried the search and faq's and found nothing on this. My wifes 06 legacy has an abs light issue, sorta. It lights like normal upon engine start, then goes out like normal. She then drives to wherever and puts it in park, leaving engine running. (Like the post office) Then when she puts it back in drive, the ABS light comes on and will stay on for the remainder of the drive. Car has 23k and no other problems as of yet. (Hoping to keep it that way for a good long while) Anybody ever hear of this problem before? Would it throw a code? Thanks. Flat4Fan
  7. Hi, I'm back. Got my car too. Seems to be fixed. They replaced the accelerator pedal assembly. The actuator must've been bad. I was skeptical at first, but it does feel better. Normal, like it should. So far I'm happy. (Only drove it once so far, time will tell.) I'm thinking DBW is not quite RFPT just yet. I sure wouldn't want to have to pay for this repair. A simple gas pedal? Not good. And now I have only one month of warrantee left. It took until now to surface. Who's to say it won't return after the warrantee expires, and cost me real money? Hopefully we're done here.
  8. Well, they have my car. I drove up this morning and warmed her up. She was roaring like usual. I get there and ask the SM to drive it so he can see it for himself. Sure enough, she calms down and drives fairly normal. No racing or revving. Of course where we drove was completely flat and city type driving so we never even got up to highway speed. But on the bright side I have a loaner, and he does acknowledge that at least something is wrong. He just doesn't see it to the degree I do. I'm thinking it should have a code stored again. I hope.
  9. I agree with you, except that 3-4000 rpms is not normal or slightly. I'm not an automotive tech so I won't profess to know what the actual problem is. But I will let you guys know the outcome of all this. It'll be nice to know the solution when we get it so that when my wife's 06 Legacy starts acting up I'll know what to tell them. (Different dealer)
  10. No I think it's deeper than that. Like I said, if I roll backward or forward, it starts to rev up. So gas pedal doesn't have as much to do with it because it senses the car is moving and starts to rev. This seems more like the cars brain. It oversees the entire car; movement, speed, pedal position, fule mixtures, load, etc etc. It's just whacked out is all. All us DBW guys are in trouble. Say tuned.
  11. Oh yeah, what they did was: "Checked for drivability concerns; scan computer for fault codes; code P1160 stored in mem; found update & applied to vehicle; updated & road tested; OK at this time." So there WAS a code in there. They did the simplest thing, I guess I don't blame them. I imagine the car had cooled down while they had it, combined with the new flash, the brain had to relearn driving patterns. It seemed better at first. BUT, it came back. Something else is still wrong. We will see.
  12. I don't know how responsible they'd be, but I agree it is a safety issue. Not to mention it p*'s me o*. So the symptoms are: 1. It runs normal when it's cold, but starts acting up after it's up to operating temperature. 2. It won't delelerate when I release the gas pedal. (Most times) 3. Will continue to rev and climb higher if I push in the clutch or ride in neutral. What I noticed is when I come to a full and complete stop, it will then drop down to "normal" except now normal is 1500 rpm. Or 5-600 or whatever. It's a little erratic. It Should be smooth as glass. 4. Here's another thing I noticed: if the car starts rolling on it's own (like I'm on a hill and release the brake) the rev's will climb again until I stop completely. Found this out when I stop for the mail after work, then roll back to pull in the driveway. Sure seems "brain" related to me. I called them. I go back next Tuesday. Wish me luck.
  13. Yes I've always noticed that little delay, especially when shifting. It's rather annoying. Yes mine has the drivebywire also. So I brought it in today and they said it had stored a code relating to " broken throttle return spring" (That's what the service mgr said) Knowing full well there is no return spring, this sounds bogus.. They also said there was a flash update so they did that. It didn't fix it. Car will still not decelerate, IOW no engine braking effect at all, and this is a 5 speed. This only happens after the car is warmed up. Cold, it's normal. It feels like the cruise is on! It's a challenge to slow it down in traffic. By "kicking it down" I mean it's just like the old days when we used to have carburetors and the choke would stick. So, no surprise, but I'll have to go back. Another few hours of missed work, and a couple of gallons of gas. I should charge THEM. I fully expected this.
  14. I have an appointment tomorrow W/ the dealer. I was just wondering if this is a common failure. Shouldn't be though. I didn't think of flash upgrades. Thanks for that, will mention it to them. Will let you know how I make out.
  15. Hey all, got a problem W/ my 05 OBS all of a sudden. Warantee expires in Jan 08. Payments continue on. But all of a sudden it seems like my TPS has gone haywire. Car surges while driving and acts like cruise control is on. Won't decelerate sometimes. I have to "kick it down" like the old days. Downshifting to 2nd is a real chore. Anybody else have this happen to a similar vehicle? (New Sube...) This is the 1st and only brand new car I bought for myself and I've pretty much babied it. I bought it in Jan 05 and only have 22K miles on it so far. So is it going to start nickel & diming me now? Even BEFORE the payments are done? Definitely not my 1st Sube, but I'm not happy the way it's shaping up. (old man rant) In my day we didn't get problems til AFTER the payments stopped. (/ old man rant)
  16. "our system runs full time theres kicks in after it starts slipping" But theirs never really kicked in. just goes to show ya.
  17. Very impressive video. Can someone explain to me why the Sube's are better then those "other" 4WDs? I mean you can see the rear wheels just sitting there on the Volvo. Isn't that car 4wd? One would think 4wd means just that. But that Volvo looked as though it was front wheels only.
  18. Also guilty as charged! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=9882
  19. FWIW, my wife's 99 legacy is having this issue occasionaly, Like yesterday, the right rear was almost flat. No nails or visible signs of puncture. I re-filled it and it seems to be holding. Early last month here right front did the same thing. I'm suspecting a rapid temperature drop as causing the tire to contract away from the bead. Once I had a flat as a result of checking the pressure one afternoon. By nightfall it was flat, but it was only dirt in the valve stem.
  20. OK, pics will be coming soon. Once I can clean it! Ugh, snow, salt, sand.... But I'm loving it. It's the new color for 05: Metallic gray, & crystal silver. One gripe: There's no key/lock for the rear gate. I hafta use the electic locks. I posted over in old school about my 93 loyale's lock problem. I wonder if there's a way to add a key/lock, or maybe a cable activated opening mechanism like the sedans have for the trunk. Anyone ever do this?
  21. Hey all. Wifeys car is having an intermittent speedometer problem. Sometimes it's not working. Then while we're driving sometime later, it'll just start up. Odometer is also out when speedo is out. Most times it works fine, but not always. Being I'm not familiar with a non-cable activated speedo, what do I look for? '99 Legacy 2.2 AT, 75K. (Still a young'n) Thanks. F4F
  22. Hey all, my '93 has a couple of electrical issues, namely, the power locks don't work anymore, and now the seat belts don't retract on the door frame when I open the doors. (Both sides) I don't know why the seat belts stopped retracting, but I have an idea about the door locks. Last winter during a very long sub-zero stretch, the rear gate lock was locking and unlocking repeatedly. I had to leave the car locked to keep it from going nuts. If left unlocked, it would just keep going on off on off on off. When the weather warmed up some it stopped doing this. We must've had a real cold night one night I left it unlocked. I think it must've started it's on off thing thru the night. I figure something must've burned out from it doing this all night. Took a look inside the rear gate, and drivers door, but everything looks OK. Not having a manual, I couldn't go much further than this. OK the locks are an annoyance, but my daughter will be inheriting this car and I'd like the seat belts to work properly for her. Any hints as to what I can look for? F4F
