  1. Im wondering if anyone here can provide a picture of a Speedo cable (both ends, close up if possible) from the 90-94 model Subaru Legacy's. also is there any differences between them? turbo vs n/a, auto vs standard? I have a buyer on ebay who is saying I sent a broken speedo cable and that it didnt fit his legacy. Yet i pulled the cable myself, from a legacy...this might help clear up a little problem/potential scammer. Thanks!
  2. Ever since i installed a replacement EJ22T in my 1994 SS i have had an issue with the idle. Some sympoms: When started first for the day, it hits about 2K rpm and stays for about 40 seconds or so, sometimes it will hit 3K rpms and then cut right out to .5rpm or stall... when warm, it seems to want to go, the car creeps when i let off the brake (its an automatic). other times, i stop at a stop light she idles perfectly, other times it will just cut out and stall.... my thoughts are maybe a sticking IAC valve or maybe the ECU from the prior motor isnt working with this one....should i change the ECU to the one that was originally for the engine? So far i have adjusted the idle, no change, adjusted the throttle cable maybe thinking it was too tight, that fixed the pull when at a stop light, but not completley, and that also made it stall out periodically as mentioned above. Anyone have any info to this, had the same symptoms? its hitting winter time here and i would like to be able to start the car and have it idle to warm up, not have to throw it in gear and hold it back from hitting 2K or 3K rpms....i cant imagine this will be good for it in cold temps when the oil is thick and cold.... Thanks!
  3. i will vouch for him, ive seen a few pics of whats come out of that garage of his...id say hes a pro of his own, also sold him a spoiler and chit chatted with him on the phone, definatly trust worthy and all around good guy.
  4. in my 93 impreza, i broke the CV joint at the hub, inturn causing the cv joint rod fly into the lower control arm at 50 mph i had to replace the caliper, cv joint, lower control arm and brake line.....weak cv joints dont like 180 degree corners at full throttle... so much for a fun filled weekend racing some hill climbs...made a horrid noise too...made the hair on the back of my neck stand up in worse news, a 93 subaru Legacy turbo 5mt, new tires = too much grip, not enough slip....complete roll, destroyed roof, driverside quarter panel and hood....i sure miss that car
  5. Hey i used to live in St. pete....left around 2000 i think...didnt have my legacy then though, i had a toyota 4 runner (it was parked at sunken gardens for sale for a bit in 99) sure do miss florida
  6. ive been watching this thread as my car has the same problem, this weekend im going to be replacing the intake manifold gaskets and am planning a thourough inspection of the rear bushings....i just replace the old struts with KYB GR-2's last summer, so im thinking its not the struts.... as far as the rust issue, mine has NO rust, and its doing this......maybe not important but ill post back the results...maybe some pics....this is driving me nuts also ...literally
  7. possibally a front wheel bearing getting hot and siezing up? i had one that was bad in the rain and somehow was fine in dry surroundings, eventually it got worse and i had to change it....so maybe a wheel bearing?
  8. well after doing a scan over of the engine, i basically crawled in the engine compartment, i noticed a bit of gasket sticking outof the intake manifold no 4 cylinder, closer inspection reveals a cracked intake...one of the ears broke off from what it looks like....
  9. well i found the green connectors, now to find the black ones.... if the car is running roughly and i unplug the IAC valve, and it runs alittle better, thats a bad IAC valve right??
  10. im having a hard time finding the dang wires in my legacy...beginning to wonder if im looking for the right wires....anyway, i need a pic if someone is kind enough of their under side of the dash, removing the kick plate that is under the steering wheel...i need to find out what is wrong with my legacy..... thanks i definatly appreciate it!!!!
  11. nice very nice! i guess i wont even show my car next to that one mine has some rust (very minimal 2 tender spots) and a few dents but she does the job. im planning on taking it out to denver in a few...hoping itll make it with no problems :crosses fingers:
  12. curious what you have for a rig, and if youve done any mods or what not.... my specs/work done 91 legacy LSI 143kmi on chassis 95legacy L EJ22 motor w/84k mi Auto-stock tranny (does your hesitate?) KYB-GR-2 struts vented rotors interior from 93 legacy turbo (i trashed the leather) 15" turbo legacy rims (need to be refinished) still have all orignal paperwrok when bough new...i think it was $17,000! few dents but runs beautifully..... yours?
  13. ive had multiple legacy's and most with very little repairs.... my first was a 90 legacy 5mt AWD i traded for a computer...that thing had 250k when i got it, rusty as all hell..i only fixed the rust, never changed to oil and it still ran with a blown clutch 4 flat tires and side swiped by a 95 legacy when i got rid of it w/268k miles...it was looking extremely bad....actually i have some pic's.... http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/stant093/vwp?.dir=/subaru&.dnm=sideswiped.jpg&.view=t&.done=http%3a//f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/stant093/lst%3f%26.dir=/subaru%26.src=ph%26.view=t http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/stant093/vwp?.dir=/subaru&.dnm=this+was+my+daily+driver-260k.jpg&.view=t i still have some strong feeling for this scooby as it was my first.... since then ive had a 91 L sedan, 90 L wagon, a 93 5mt turbo and now i have a 91 LSi and a 93 impreza.... ive done alot of work to the 91 LSi (my daily driver) the turbo rolled one snowy day so i pulled all the interior, the 2 pot calipers, rims and tires off and put them on the LSI, and also bought 4 KYB-GR2's...changed the engine in the LSi so the chassis has 130k but the drive train has 80K and runs baeautifully... im never driving anything else...unless i HAVE TO....
