  1. i forgot to mention this too... if i put my foot underneath the clutch pedal and pull it towards me..it also stops the sound
  2. so i shouldnt do that? i have the hill holder disconnected..i was just using it to show where i was talking about...so i guess its called the clutch fork then... thats the peice that with the clutch out all the way it wobbles around..and when it does it squeaks which is really annoying...is there anyway to get rid of this.... it goes away seriously if you push the clutch in 1 milimeter..
  3. if you look overhead at the engine...its up at the very top about 1.5 feet away from the right side...its connected to the engine block
  4. its a 95 legacy l sedan 2.2l 5-speed it has nothing to do with the pedal.. theres a part of the clutch somewhere where the hill holder brake line connects to.. well that peice that is held onto a bolt by 2 nuts moves/wobbles around and squeaks when it does..and the frequency of the squeaks go up as the revs go up.. now when im driving if i put the clutch in even a milimeter the squeak goes away..im assuming because the cable puts tension on that peice to keep it from wobbling.. what im wondering is if i can change the tension of the clutch cable so with the clutch out all the way, it will be like right now me having my foot on the clutch just a little bit.. i hope that makes some more sense i am getting a new clutch right now...but im just owndering if theres a quick fix in the meantime to get rid of the squeak noises
  5. my clutch isnt under any box or anything..its wide in the open.. but its very loose and rattles around and makes a squeaky noise..so im hoping tightening it is gonna stop that.. i did notice nuts over the big bolt were together...but it seemed to me they were springloaded to keep from twisting any way
  6. how do i do this... i dont know much about clutches, and the foremost bolt seems to be spring loaded so i cant adjust it...
  7. i was told by someone i know its probably the cat...and is very easy to fix
  8. i doubt that would help... it doesnt come at all, you cant hear it at all unless im at atleast 3000 rpms... and usually only when its accelerating if i let off the gas and cruise it goes away..even if i stay at high rpms (i think it does...i dont usually cruise around at 4000 rpms) i could try and record it.. its a very very high pitched squealing noise...sounds like a mixture of a sports whistle and a tea kettle...allthough i think its even high pitched then that
  9. my car has 332 000 KMs on it...no rust anywhere except a few small parts on one of the doors and trunk everywhere else its perfect you can still see the green colour everywhere under it and the frame is black full of grease
  10. my legacy gets aqround in snow better then my dads pathfinder with limited slip in 4x4 low getting stuck is not possible unless the snow is packed against the car somewhere
  11. i have taken out the plastic shield and it looked clean in mine a while ago i was my car once a month at the pressure washer place and thoroughly clean inside the wheel wells and under the car
  12. id say its subaru's fault, airbags are not your problem if under 10 years old contact the original owner and make sure the airbags were never tampered with also make sure youre airbag warning lights work when you start the car...i know my dash is missing a few lights after 10 years
  13. ok the noise is definatly only when moving... and i did take out the air resonator... but i heard the noise before i did, allthough i think it might have gotten worse since
  14. i should have mentioned this...i think its only when the car is moving... ill go check in 2 mins so it might be the tranny problem, is there a quick fix? and also about tightening the clutch cable..how would you go about this? i tried turning either of the 2 closest nuts on the threded bar, but they seem to go back, like theres a spring holding them from turning either way and the noise is ONLY when the rpms are high...or if im giving it gas... i could be cruising at the governor and i wouldnt hear it... it seems to be in lower gears when giving it gas at 3000+ rpms
  15. at higher rpm's, 3000+ especially when giving it gas the noise sort of changes as the revs move even higher.. its kind of annoying but some people tell me it sounds like a turbo...its kind of annoying to me i dont know what it is also ive noticed my friends 99 legacy l wagon started making a smiliar but very faint noise like it also a part of my clutch makes a squeaking sound which goes away if the clutch is in the slightest bit, and it gets faster as the revs go up...but im pretty sure for that i just need to tighten something.. i have no idea what the parts are but the foremost part of the clutch you can see ...its not even the clutch just connected..its a black metal casing where the hill helper brake connects..its what makes the noise..it moves around and if i hold it in place the noise stops..also i disconnected the hill helper if that makes a difference] any help is appreciated...thanks
  16. the buzzing is the sound of the hydrolic celanoid(sp?) hammering your brakes off and letting them come back on over and over... ive never used an abs that hasnt made a vibrating noise like that.. and in all my abs experiences...the buzzing usually lasted .5-1 second after i let off the pedal
  17. rotation is free in many places...but not if only want that done canadian tire is the best place to go...if theres any near you
  18. my friends fathers legacy ..auto tranny has a broken seal and will cost $25oo CDN at the dealer to repair.. hes ************ing furious..in his whole life he's never even had to do tranny work on a car before...and hes owned 427 big block camaros hes trying to find out he thinks there was a call back on that year for tranny problems..im not sure tho what would cause a tranny seal to go? i dont know, neither does he, and neither does subaru its also his wifes car...its never been driven hard or even over the speed limit for 6 years
  19. aha..its oil i forgot theres a cam seal im replacing next week
  20. i have a 95 legacy l 2.2 awd i recently bought, i havnt done lal the fluid checks yet and i noticed theres smoke rising from around or below the top left part of the engine ive also noticed my car makes a louder high pitch noise then other subaru's ive been in, i dunno if it could be tranny fluid or diff fluid if that ever goes low? also my clutch is really really bad i need to replace it soon. i can smell it after a while of normal driving when i shut the car off the smoke comes up around in this circle..
  21. lol im learning 4 bangers arent easy to make fast... i think im just gonna keep my legacy for a year or to as a daily driver..and get some financing on a ls1 camaro/trans am i am only 18, and a 2002 z28 camaro gets better gas mileage then a brand new wrx, so im assuming it would do much better then a 250hp legacy
  22. i ahve the ultimate subaru hookups from a guy from school...i could get a swap with a 2.5l turbo engine and new brakes and ecu for like 2500 CDN but then again i might aswell get a new car
  23. ya but i got a 330 000*KM* engine im thinking a turbos gonna drop something on the road in a few months/years i did a little reserach in the summer i can pump like 1-2grand into a pulley, up/downpipes and headers, complete intake and full catexhaust a turbo is a possibility, either that or a new engine with turbo how would my engine hold up with a turbo, its in really good shape for how old it is and how mand km's
