I just purchased 4 Bridgestone Turanza LS-T for my 2000 Forester. Seem OK. Nice ride and good wet traction. But I haven't used them in the snow yet. They had a very high rating at Tirerack.com. For my wife's Toyota Camry LE V-6, I'm using Firestone Affinity LH-30. These are very good. I used the same tires last winter on another vehicle and they were fantastic in the snow. They had just a bit lower rating at Tirerack.com. If you're on a budget Pep Boys carries the Futura line of tires. Most of them are made by Cooper. They were fine in snow and wet weather. The only brand I'd stay away from are Goodyear. I had problems with their tires. When I tried to use the warranty I got the run around at a Goodyear owned store (Just Tires). ~Howard

I don't know where you have been looking but the Long Trail do come in 205/70R15. However two tire dealers in my area told me that the factory is backordered until Feb. 2004. I needed tires ASAP as the original Duelers were not giving me any traction in a recent 2" snow (I had no problems DRIVING. STOPPING was another story.). I settled for Bridgestone Turanza LS-T in a P205/70R15. These Bridgestones had a very nice review at tirerack.com. The dealer suggested running them @ 35 PSI. ~Howard

I am having an unusual problem. This is with the rear wiper on my 2000 Forester. When the rear window gets a tad dry in the rain, it begins to make a horrible noise. It seems sort of like a rubbing sound. I have to turn it off and wait until the rear window get wetter before I can turn it on again. I tried replacing the blade itself. I first tried a 16" Anco blade (the original blade from Subaru is a 15.5"). That didn't work. I next tried a Bosch 15". That did nothing either. Do I need a new arm or is the wiper motor going ? HELP !! This is driving me nuts ! ~Howard

I upgraded the radio in my 2000 Forester. The original radio was a Clarion with cassette only. Using a CD player with a cassette adapter drove me nuts. I used Best Buy and purchased a single CD deck by Pioneer. The deck was about $130 and the labor to install it was free. The parts (adapter, etc) ran about $30. ~Howard

 Once again I want to thank all of the Subaru junkies on this board. Based upon everyone's suggestions I am going to have my mechanic go over the underside area of the Forester. I'd rather be safe than sorry. The rear lights all work fine and the hatch opens and locks OK. The muffer is probably gone along with the tail pipe and a chrome part that covers the tail pipe. That's all I can see now on the underside. Both my daughter and I are OK today. My back is a lot better; the soreness is all but gone. I contacted the other drivers insurance company last night. The good news is she admits her fault. An adjuster will contact me Monday or Tuesday. ~Howard

:temper: I was involved in a rear end accident today with my 2000 Forester. A 1993 Pontiac Bonneville rear ended me at about 25-30 MPH. The Subaru held true to form and was not from all outward appearances too badly damaged. The Pontiac slid under the rear of the Subaru. The damage I can see are a dent in the hatch, the back bumper (really messed up) and the muffler along with a chrome part the fits over the tail pipe. No one was hurt except for my daughter and I being a bit sore and all appears repairable on my end. My question: Are there any particular areas I should ask the body shop to take a close look at that are under the car and I can't see ? I'm taking the car to the shop ASAP. Please keep in mind that the Forester was hit dead on in the rear. Thanks for your help ! ~Howard
