  1. Welcome home Will. Good luck with the ECU and other stuff from Europe...
  2. I bought my MY92 AWD Legacy MT in 2002 with 160,000 mi on the clock. Now it has 190,000 mi. Nothing has gone wrong except a gearbox failure 1,000 mi ago. Synchromesh of thrid gear failed. Replaced gearbox with a 80,000 mi unit. Other than that, just done oil changes (every 6,000 mi) and a timing belt and oil pump replacement. Mind you, I drive the car on the race track on a very regular basis (last year around 3,000 mi). Oh yeah, front drive shafts starting to get noisy now and then. And the alternator bearings start to whine. But again, bullet proof cars, no worries.
  3. I try to limit going there to once a month, . Drop me a line when you're going again.
  4. After receiving a surprise email from Will that he would spend the holidays in Europe, we had some email messages going round and Will invited me to meet him and his girl friend Nina in Dinslaken, Germany, for some good old fun go-karting. Will made me bring my white Legacy 'race car' and we took some pictures. The go-karting really was a blast and obviously, it wasn't hard to find a subject for conversation: Subaru! All in all very nice to finally meet someone from this board (although I haven't been as active as I used to be) and I'm sure we'll meet again when you return to Germany in the summer, Will! (at least to show you a lap around the famous Nordschleife) BR
  5. Weight should be around the same as SOHC EJ20 and EJ22. Don't know if that helps though!
  6. Does anyone know a good source for a new or used Legacy Turbo short block? MY91-94. Subaru part number 10103AA310. Thanks.
  7. OK, maybe a bit late, but anyway... I checked the floorpans of the 2WD and 4WD cars, and it seems that they use the same parts. However, there is a difference between Sedans and Stationwagons/Touringwagons. But 2WD and 4WD are identical. If you have the parts (tranny, prop shaft, rear diff, rear subframe, rear trailing arms, rear wheels hubs, rear drive shafts) you can modify a 2WD car into a 4WD/AWD. Good luck, I'll let you know how my project turns out.
  8. Nice ones, except I'm a little confused by the wheels you put on your WRX...
  9. Interesting. Does a 2WD MY90-94 (Legacy MK1) body have the fixing points for the propeller shaft bearing housing (middle of the car)? I'm looking into buying a MY93 GL 2WD Wagon and I have all the parts to make it a 4WD.
  10. On my MY92 Legacy 4WD (now 190k miles), the bearings have always been whining (got the car at 160k miles). However, synchromesh of 3rd has been failing recently when gear oil is hot. I replaced the oil about 6 months ago when I replaced all clutch components. A few weeks back I found a replacement gearbox (MY91) for only 80 Euro (= 80 US$). Still have to do the swap though, I reckon I'll keep driving until it really becomes impossible to use 3rd. BR,
  11. I ditched the red one after it suffered brake failure (rear drum exploded). I kept the engine and FI system (both MY85) though. The silver one (camera mounted on door) had a 85 hp EA71 engine. The white Legacy in the 'professional' vid, has a 115 hp normally aspirated EJ20 SOHC engine. Calebz, I'll try to locate an EA82T MY87 ECU for you. Auto or manual?
  12. Hi guys, sorry not to respond any sooner, bit I'm a bit busy these days (even non-Subaru)! Here's the site where you can find some videos, one of the Leone (outboard) and one professional one of my Legacy, both Nordschleife. vkd_8200rpm_ringspecial03_legacy4wd.wmv Leone_nordschleife_8200rpm.wmv BTW, I'm working on putting online a video of a lap around the track in my old XT Turbo AWD, with the camera mounted on the roof! BR,
  13. I have to be in Laredo because of work... We're doing some testing there. Bugger about the amount of Scooby's there... At least the Brats, GLs and DLs wouldn't have rusted away (quickly) there!
  14. Hi guys, finally found my way to the new board! This fall, I will be visiting the US for work. More specifically, end of October I will be visiting Laredo, TX. Might be fun visting or meeting a few of you I know from the EZboard. Who's in that area? Cheers,
  15. Hi, this October I will be visiting the US for work. I plan to visit a few junkyards and pick up some SVX parts while I'm there. Any of you know some good places near Laredo, TX? Thanks.
