  1. Im wondering if something major is wrong. It seems to only start leaking when you drive it on the highway where the RPMs are high (3 speed auto trans). It then starts spewing oil and the oil hits the exaust parts and catlytic converter ect and then it pours smoke all over. When I first got the car I went to pep boys and baught a purolator brand PCV valve. I have no idea if that has anything at all to do with it. It leaks severely from the center front area of the engine. Im going to replace the oil filter in case its the filter gasket or something small like that. I am at my wits end with this leak.
  2. I just got the car back for a SECOND time. this time they replaced the oil pump seal, crank seal and timing belts. Halfway home it pissed oil all over again. It leaks severely and im at a total loss of what to do. Im seriously considering bailing out of this car. Its a shame, it only has 33,000 miles on it.
  3. just called the shop. they did the oil pump seal and also the crank seal. so now I have new cam, crank and oil pump seals... wtf?
  4. well he now says its the oil pump gasket or the pump leaking. he tore it all apart again, i cant wait for the bill on this one...
  5. oh I forgot to mention when I picked it up today when I started it up it tapped VERY VERY LOUDLY for about 10 minutes while driving. Now it has allways had a little bit of a tap to it but this thing sounded like an old dodge slant 6... it tapped LOUD. It seems to have gone away and is tapping lightly as it did normally before.
  6. I just put my 93 Loyale 4x4 wagon in the shop for a massive oil leak and check engine light on. I got it back today 500 dollars later and they replaced the cam seals, right axle (axle boot ripped), and new 02 sensor. Its still leaking, and the check engine light is on still. What else could it be? It seems to be dripping from the center front of the car and leaks worse the more rpms. I called the shop and they said bring it back in on monday. Help
  7. I just looked at the car again. Im having a hard time telling where the oil is leaking from now... but its leaking bad. I also just noticed a big rip in the rubber boot on the axle where it connects to the transmission. This car has only 32,000 on it...
  8. my 93 Loyale 4x4 is leaking oil pretty bad. It seems to be coming from the front passenger side of the engine and soaking everything as I drive including the catalytic converter causing a burining smell of the oil. I notice the oil leaks from what appears to be the timing belt cover on the front of the engine.. can anyone give me an idea of what is going on? Is this a big job? A local mechaninc said its probably the timing belt cover gasket or the cam seals. he said it would be about 600 dollars to fix. does this sound right? I think this includes new timing belts.
  9. I have a 93 4x4 Loyale (auto trans) with only 32k on it but im noticing the catalytic converter which is visable from opening the hood is somewhat rusty and the top part of the heat shield is loose to the point its ready to fall off. The heat sheild was rattling and thats what got my attention. So the question is, where is a good place to buy a new catalytic converter for this car and is there anything i should buy that may be better than stock? Or should I just remove the heat sheild and call it a day. Thanks Chris
  10. Hey this sounds like the 93 4x4 Loyale I just got about 2 months ago for $1,400. Mine has 32K on it. The bad thing is that a family of mice took up residence in the heater boxes and vents and I had to get the dash and heater boxes taken apart. Oh and the AC blows hot air. I love this little wagon and cant wait to see how it is in the snow this year..I hear they go through it pretty well. Mine is an auto trans without an overdrive gear and the car goes nowhere fast, but all and all I do like this car.
  11. My taillights and license plate light are not working. My brake lights do, but no running lights. I checked the fuses in the fuse pannel and all is ok. any ideas?
  12. is my 93 subaru loyale wagon front wheel or rear whell drive when I dont have it in 4 wheel drive mode? also it only has 32,000 miles on it. It seems to hesitate when you first run it when the engine is cold. I did a basic tuneup including a fuel filter, ran some cevron techron through it and it still seems to hesitate when cold..any ideas? one more thing..can someone reccommend a good set of very bright lights I could mount on the front of my car? I do some night driving on some very dark roads around here and could use them. I want something I could TASTEFULLY attach to the front of my car..any what would be a good set of offroad type lights and how to mount them?
  13. ok i allmost have my dash completely out and im becoming very concerned on whether or not ill ever get it back together. im disconnecting a million wiring harnesses and what not. all to get at this hvac system..am i going to be able to get this back together?
  14. I have a 93 Loyale 4x4 that when you first start driving while cold hesitates and bogs out. Anyone know what this could be? It runs fine once its warm, aside from the ticking noise it makes in the engine. It only has 31,800 miles on it and is a 3 speed automatic. I tried replacing the fuel filter, plugs and wires without any change. Thanks in advance
  15. Thanks for all your replys..yes the car is a 3 speed automatic. The mouse nest will be a challenge im sure...
  16. Well im new here so I figured I would check in. I recently bought a 93 Loyale 4x4 wagon that has a true 31,500 miles on it. I love the car but found that it has a mouse nest in the heater system causing a BAD smell. I still have not addressed that problem yet. The car is in great shape and belonged to some crazy older woman who traded it in on a forrester. I noticed that the engine taps a little more than I would like and hesitates when the engine is cold. Its a fuel injected engine. The 4x4 works. I paid 1400 for the car. Can someone tell me if the tapping in the engine can be fixed? Is it a huge job? Also is getting into the heating sytem going to be hard to clean out the dead mice and mouse nests? Hay from the nest blows out when you turn on the blower motor, along with a foul smell. I think the nest is in the box where the temp control would be, when i switch from hot to cold it seems some sort of "flap" moves and thats where the nest is. whereever that flap is is where i think the nest is. Also I find that at 65 MPH on the highway im at 4,000 rpms or above. It has an automatic trans in it and im guessing there is no overdrive gear. It seems to be really reving at highway speed without an overdrive gear...
