  1. Your in Ct ? Do you have ther state doing your emission testing, or do private garages do it ?

Also if the car your talking about has less then 100K on it, they may not pass you.

All that crap is also helping you get good gas milage. Why do you want to change it?

CT had the emissions banned in the state for over a year because there was no state regulation done to ensure that the third party testers (private garages) wern't letting people pass when they shouldn't. as far as i know the emissions have been re-instated in the state and are far more rigorous. Im pretty positive that if you have a single barel weber on your ea81 you wont pass.

Once i installed my double barrel weber on my ea82 my mileage went up to over 30 mpg highway....but i recently backed into a huge stump in my driveway and now my pipes are basically f'd=crappy around town mileage....but tomorrow the car is getting new ones from the headers all the way back minus any cat(s).:brow:

  2. Hey i've been breaking the cross bars on my GL's factory rack like no other. What's to blame is having a fully loaded rocket box getting blown around up there at 75-80 mph. Has anyone 'retrofitted' a factory roof rack from a 94 or newer Legacy GT or better (better being outback) onto a GL or Loyale? When I asked the fools at the dealership in town they gave me with a real disconcerning look and said they had no idea if it would work, nor would they install it if it did.

  3. uh the ej22 was indestructable when i owned one. if i could i would swap an ej22T in the place of my ea18 and never wory about another engine problem again.

ps any legacy 96-99 would give you between 2 or 3 options for the engine. the: 22, 25, and 30. in my opinion the flat four 22 has pleanty of power, with a new ecu chip, intake, 3 inch headers and cat back you'll be screaming off the line.

  4. i've been doing some searching on this site to find out some details on what will work with my 85 GL wagon. I saw a couple of posts regarding that a older honda front will bolt on to the rear but the main questions that i would love to have answered are: what adjustable struts were made for an 85 DR 5speed wagon, what do they run, and what have others found to work well?

  5. I just recently left my '85 GL wagon in sea tac for three months this summer, drove the car back down to arizona and when i went to get it washed i opened my passenger door and a wet little squeeker came sliding out looking particularly pissed. It had built up a nest just behind the passenger side headlamp and i guess just toughed out the ride home across the mojave and sonoran deserts.

  6. as far as I am concerned y'all are barking up the wrong tree with all of these threats at Jon. he is a busy man with kids to feed and a REAL JOB that takes up all of his days. when does have a second to breathe he is spending it dealing with real folks that take the time to engage in an intelligent conversation, show up as his house and work with him to get their cars running. im my opinion y'all that are so g o d d a m n e d concerned with the vanity of your automobiles should hike your skirts up and wait for Jon - a guy who is over worked and under-apreciated - to get the job done right on his time and quit your quibbling over some stupid bumpers.

I've only met the man once; but him and a friend of mine did some pretty amazing things to a gen 1 brat when they were working together. He is honest and hard working and would always give me the time of day despite the fact we only had a 20 minute conversation and had a handshake.

    So I guess what im trying to say is quit your b i t c h i n g.

  7. well i pulled all four rims of the sedan and let me tell you that car was L O A D E D when i saw it in the yard. pretty much EVERYTHING you would want from a 85 gl minus the radio. apparently the trans went wrong so if you need it i'd get it from this car. i left the axles in the dirt........SORRY.........but i really nailed my head not looking out for popped hatches while i was walking around :banghead: and was beeding bad. anyways those rims are HOT and the GL no longer the hoopty it once was the rims feel like im on some rails at 80-85 mph not quite like the maytag washing machine on wagon rims it once was.

  8. well you should most definately keep it....

ea22 will work but your gonna have to stuff it, my buddy just ripped apart a gen 1 brat and threw in a dual range with a limited slip diff three of four inch custom lift disc brakes and rewired the 22 clip to the brat with a leg comp and electronic ignition. after 3 days he had the entire thing runnin w/ no exaust and it sounded like a g o d d a m n tractor......custom 3 inch exaust - no muffler and apparently it romps like nobody's buisness in lolo mont.

  9. Yes, their prices are all ''pulled'' prices. I will get the phone # and car number early next week.

I *do* need an EA82 wagon wheel - I have one bent one, but 3 good ones. I could probably find one at the same yard, I just didn't think about it after I saw the set of alloys, LOL.

Well my deal is this: I'm flying back from anchorage to seattle where my car is parked and was planning on being able to get into mt. vernon very early tuesday 8-16 to find those rims. If you are going to be in the area and would like one of my wagon wheels i would be able to leave you one somewhere IF i got a chance to swap the rubbers onto the alloys. anyways the car # and the # to the junk yard would be awesome but i dont know if im going to get another chance to get onto the internet before i get to seattle. so if i dont get any more infro i'm just going to use the beta you posted prior to try and find this light blue wagon in the yard. IF i do get a chance to get back on the site Karinvail pm me a way to get get in touch with you if your interested in the wagon rim.

  10. I could go in and get the car # if you really wanted them - and PM you the phone and car #. It's just a few minutes off I-5 in Mt.Vernon..... north of Seattle about an hour or so..... The yard will pull them for you - you don't have to do any wrenching at all......

A'hem.....My darling girlfirend said that I would be cashing in all my stored up points but it can happen if; i buy her a grip of high cocoa content chocolate (we are also picking up a weber carb/intake/adapter plate in portland that same day) before we go back to eugene.

It would be awesome if you could get me the car # so that I could call up the yard and have them pulled and ready for me to swing in and snatch up. The number to the yard would be awesome too. Will it still be $80 straight up if they are pulled? If it's gonna be much more I would do it myself.

Karinvail: ya need any spoke rims? i got three mis matched caps too........

regardless they're yours as long as the yard has these (if you want them)

  11. Yes i know this....which is why i really want to get my hand to wheels like this, and because they're hot. Unfortunatly i dont think i'm going to have room in my ride to bring 'em back down to AZ on the 16'th when i drive back from seattle, nor would i have the time to find that junkyard off the 5 and pull the rims. anyone know if they are still there? i might be able to convince the girlfriend that we need to make it happen. Again any info on wheel specs like a part # would be awesome or what to call them would be great too. I think '85 alloys would be too vague.

The '85 and up wagon wheels have a chronic problem with bending or going out of "true"; any of the alloy wheels that fit are a huge improvement.
  12. So im only in anchorage until 8-15 until i fly back to seattle and get into by hurt box GL and try to limp it back to arizona. I found this dead or alive subaru shop / dealer (in anchorage) and apparently they can get me what i need. If the weber isn't in good order i think im gust going to forget about it entirely mainly due to the fact that i have such little free time away from school to do fun things like that. Much appreciated for the beta all around.

  13. Hey there,

Im up in anchorage ak and was looking to possibly buy a used (working) weber carb and entire intake system. I was feeling that the range of $250 would be sufficient if it was in good shape. Any feedback on what i should expect for a swap or weather or not this price is reasonable.

    thanks,

    neal
