mystery sensor

I broke one of those vacuum solenoids once in my '88 Loyale. I was a little mad at myself since I figured that it was going to cost me about 25 dollars to replace it from the dealer parts shop. When I got there I was told they had one and the discounted price was 113 dollars. I couldn't believe it. There is two of those used I think, at least my car used two of them. It is just a simple solenoid that controls the flow of vacuum air. Try getting one from a salvage yard if you can. Other cars like Honda use a similair thing also and folks have swapped connectors on them to make them work.

they seem to last a big longer than the subaru ones

They definitely do. The ones I got from a scrap yard in the late 80's STILL work. The cars were similar age & size to the Loyale models. Pretty much any model had 2 or more solenoids under the hood.

well crap, i just got back from the junk yard and i couldnt find ANY thing except for a funky mushroom looking solenoid from a honda, the vent is a rubber cap (mushroom top lookin thing)

all they had were older camrys (late 80s) and the early 90's ones which i have found out that have the one in your pics are all missing their engines.

do legacys have a egr solenoid thats better than ea82 or do they even have one at all?

Thanks for the input. I went to the dealership and discovered the outrageous price. So I decided to epoxy it back together. The sube started right up and ran great:banana:, although the cel was on, code 21. I cruised the neighborhood to warm it up, which allow the code to turn off. Now it runs horrible. It stumbles on acceleration, though high rpm's seem ok. It barely starts. Could this be that sensor or some other problem?
