Both rear outer CV Boots split, easy fix? and how serious?

Featured Replies

I just passed my Vehicle Warrant of Fitness (I live in New Zealand)

I was told that both the rear outer CV Boots were split.

Is this a serious issue?

And how simple to fix as a do it yourself? Its 1994 EJ18 GC6 Impreza

Cheers

Well you just need to remove the axles and take apart the axles to replace the boot. As long as there isn't any unusual play or noise in the shaft just clean it up, regrease and reboot. Topic has been covered. You could also just get some reman axles or some GOOD rear axles. Regardless you can probably drive for a while like that as the rear's don't move nearly as much as the fronts.
