akc
Hey I have a question I have a 86 EA82 5 speed when my car is in the 3+ RPM range it sounds like you can hear grinding from under the shifter. Not real loud but definate grinding . When you hold the shifter you can feel it. It recently started doing this (2 weeks ago) and has gotten a little worse. you can also hear it grind sometimes when you are shifting not bad but a little. It is a NEW issue and although it does not seem to affect performace I wondered how bad it was? Any easy fixes? or temperary ones? When you run it in the lower RPM range it does not make any noise and sounds normal (just gutless) Is it damaging anything? I have not had a manual transmission in so long but have had 2 Automatics throw there transmissions in the last year. I guess I am a little parinoid. It is NOT slipping at all. I checked the dipstick for the gear oil in the engine compartment and it is normal.
